I worked at COWI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    No leadership.
It's important to be billable, no concern about project profitability.
Comical leadership; East Coast can't get with the West Coast. Bridge Group hates the Marine group.
Shared services so Business Development leaders gossip between each other and only talk about the bad stuff.
Extremely high turn over of upper management. Potential to move into these roles easily.

    Cons

They try to micro manager everything, so they actually can't see the big picture.
Rules change daily. Everybody develops their own loop holes.
High turn over, nobody wants to make a decision.

    Advice to Management

    shut down

I worked at COWI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good Benefits
Good work life balance for office staff, uncertain work life balance for field staff.

    Cons

Corporate office is a mess, which leads to miscommunication on an office-to-office level
Lack of direction from management, results in not enough work to go around.
Company seems more concerned about your time sheet than being fulfilled as en employee.
This company is a few years away from being a successful employer

    Advice to Management

Focus on the employees, ensuring they are fulfilled in what they do. Focus less on the billable hours, happy employees will lead to less un-billable hours.

I have been working at COWI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people here are friendly, hardworking, and genuinely committed to seeing the organization grow. COWI is growing in a carefully planed way. Talent is recognized and rewarded. Employees have some freedom to work on the projects that interest them the most. Benefits package is outstanding. Lots of room for promotion as COWI continues to grow.

    Cons

The office is centrally located in the Bay Area, which means that employees live in all directions (north, south, east & west) from the office. This makes it difficult to join with others for commute.

    Advice to Management

Continue talking with employees. They have great ideas to help us grow. Good job, keep it going.

Great colleagues and very nice opportunities for different missions.
OK salary and straight management with an ambition to deliver the correct product to the customer. I can really recommend this company.

    Cons

I don't really have much to say here. All jobs you can imagine have good and bad days but I cannot remember many bad days.

    Advice to Management

    keep up the good work!

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

COWI provides a good platform to work on many projects both nationwide and internationally. Segments include energy, marine, construction, civil and defense projects.

    Cons

Small setup can limit potential for growth. Centralized organization hinders agility

    Advice to Management

Promote more internally, change reward system based on individual value and not overall performance.
