Pros
Might be OK if you're in the union or a contractor.
Cons
CP has the most oppressive work culture I have ever seen. Everyone seems to live in constant fear of being fired. A recent, 2017 employee survey revealed that 82% of CP employees '...would leave the company if offered a job with similar pay elsewhere'. I dare you to ask about that in a CP interview and see if you get a straight answer. IT is a sweatshop meaning that work/life balance is non-existent. If you work on-call, you get no compensation for it except $25 total per night and only if you get called between certain hours. There's no overtime in IT as it is non-union. Many IT employees, especially in the area I was in, are expected to work well beyond 40 hours/week and 50-60 hour work weeks are very common. You will get abused or threatened by managers who don't know the meaning of respectful workplace.
