Low pay, they won't get you home on time

    Jul 8, 2021 - OTR Driver

    Pros

Insurance is pretty cheap, at least I think it is, this is my first rodeo paying for my own insurance.

    Cons

Low pay rate, 38-41¢/mile depending on your monthly bonuses (3 different 1¢ bonuses). Governed at 65. Home time will never be on time. Good luck actually getting any appointments.

C.R. England = (E)very.(N)ew.(G)uy.(L)eaves.(A)fter.(N)inty.(D)ays: Smoke and mirrors until you are away from home

Feb 8, 2021 - Company Driver in Laredo, TX

    Pros

Great school, 0$ up front CDL, Excellent hotel accommodations, Newer Trucks,

    Cons

Deceptive Recruiting practices; Greyhound fare covered to the school, return trip is on you. At the school you will learn that you are to be funneled into the National OTR account with no guaranteed home-time. There is 18% interest on the $6000 tuition. Three (3) people to a truck during training (sharing a bunk) running 24/7,(paid per diem NOT by the miles) at the mercy of the OTR trainer who may or may not be qualified to train new drivers on best practices. Mandatory team driving for 180 hours, then you may APPLY for a Solo position on a 20-70 person waitlist. Everything on the initial application doesn't seem to matter. Low pay compared to industry standards: 32cpm split pay for the mandated team drivers until your ticket is up in the waitlist. Base band pay for most positions topping out at 48-52 cpm after (120) months of experience. Must REQUEST hometime two weeks in advance to possibly be routed back. Lots of empty trucks in the yard and a going slogan among the drivers: C.R. England = Every.New.Guy.Leaves.After.Ninty.Days. Pitched to purchase an affiliate "legal protection service for CDL holders" at a weekly pay deduction. This defeats the purpose of the company driver position, operating under CR England's authority. Very long and exhaustive arbitration agreement after being sued for $100's of millions behind defrauding employees with the lease operator program. I graduated from the school, sat for a time, then drove OTR only to discover I have not been paid in almost a month. Was told I would be getting per diem for the idle time waiting for a trainer truck, paid orientation hours after graduating, and per diem for OTR time. At the time of this writing, I have not seen a dime and catching the next flight home to apply with a different carrier. Still on the hook for $6K, but I have my CDL. 40+ new recruits every week!
