Great place to make a difference
May 18, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- people here are really focused on making medicines that help patients and making the most impact possible - new office in Boston is very nice and modern, there's great energy in this new building
Cons
- people move at a face pace so if you are someone who prefers a slower work environment, this may not be the place for you - the company has grown fast so some people don't know each other across programs and functions
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Good culture and good work life balance
Cons
Be better at informing about finances

Not the experience I had hoped for
May 24, 2023 - Clinical Scientist in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good benefits for family planning, technology is promising
Cons
The senior leadership has absolutely no clue what they are doing. Horrible favoritism and the people in power have little to no relevant experience (mostly ex- consultants who think they know it all). They have no direction as a company, it seems like the only goal they have is to make deals and sell off assets randomly. They allow bullying and toxic behavior by senior executives at partner companies, and they don’t defend their own employees or people, the senior management are the first ones to throw them under the bus.

A biotech company or boutique management consultant firm ?
Apr 27, 2023 - AnonymousRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Preeminent gene editing company with smart, innovative, high-performing people. Diverse therapeutic areas/modalities in distinct franchises. Each franchise is like a small biotech so opportunity for a long-term career development by moving across different franchises.
Cons
There is blatant favoritism. The top level inner circle is a handful of young management consultants. There is zero interest in valuing experienced drug developers ideas and perspectives. McKinsey training is valued above all else. The lack of experience is going to be detrimental to the future success of the company .

CRISPR Tx should reimburse employees for therapy they'll need
Apr 17, 2023 - Research Scientist in Cambridge, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
1. A good place to build experience in developing gene editing therapies before moving on to better companies that compensate employees fairly and treat them like human beings. 2. If you're into learning by example, this is a great place for cautionary examples about how not to build a company. Rampant bullying and favoritism permeate the culture from top to bottom.
Cons
1. Senior managment is out way beyond their depth, and the CEO has surrounded himself with a cadre of maladjusted sycophants interested only in their own advancement and personal enrichment. 2. High turnover at all levels and in all departments. Even taking COVID into account, turnover is exceptionally high. 3. Senior managment is big on "optics" but seems incapable of delivering anything substantive beyond hemoglobinopathies.

The science is good, the company is a dumpster fire
May 2, 2023 - Senior Scientist in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Promising science and some truly wonderful people working there. Unfortunately none of them are in leadership positions.
Cons
I would list all the reasons but I don't want to give this company any more thought, time, or energy than I already have. The other recent negative reviews are all accurate.

Innovation doesn't matter
May 10, 2023 - Research Scientist in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Lunch is close to free, a Pro that I can tell.
Cons
Hardcore scientists left this boat one after another and the remaining folks are playing politician style pretending to be busy every day and appraising each other's nonsense on a daily base. Some people who managed to occupy leadership roles do not have a PhD and are dominating the direction of R&D. The pipeline is full of copycat programs from competitors and they call it INNOVATION.

Great science/people, management plays favorites
Mar 19, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Interesting science and platform, most people are fantastic to work with.
Cons
Great company if you're a male with 18 mos of consulting experience at mckinsey and a masters who the CEO is also obsessed with. You can go from entry level analyst to VP/head of a department in 6 years. Company doesn't care for title consistency across departments as there are scientists and other GA with tenure, and advanced degrees, who have made important contributions who constantly get passed up for promotions bc they aren't part of the chosen favorites. HR also actively works against people getting recognition and pull bait and switches on new candidates re: titles.
