Organization has gone to hell in a handbag.

    Pros

This once was a great organization to work for but all that has changed over time. The original management team was individuals, with an engineering/technical background who had worked their way up through the ranks and they knew their stuff. Safety was "job1" Some of the best and brightest minds in the gas industry once worked here.

    Cons

The bottom line is all this organization is concerned about, safety be damned. The company is now run by folks who really have no business what so ever managing a testing laboratory. You have engineering judgements and decisions being made by people who do not have the appropriate background and experience to do so. Many long term employees who were the knowledge pool have been replaced by junior cadets who know nothing and have no one to learn from. Oh, but they work cheaper. You can get three of them for the cost of one experienced individual.

Most tasks were either as-builts and cd documents

    Pros

Small architectural group, felt like a studio within a huge engineering company. A lot of interaction with clients, showcase visits, and company presentations.

    Cons

Not much that I could think of, only real con is that it felt like the architectural department wasn't that important in comparison with the engineering sideZ which often caused turmoils over which senior architect/engineer had more voice.

    Pros

Good benefits. Good location and work environment. Fellow employees are social, but helpful.

    Cons

Seems to be more into making money than worried about quality. Not a lot of advancement opportunities if the worker is younger.

    Responsibility without Authority or Compensation

Sep 1, 2010 - Project Manager in Chicago, IL

    Pros

It's a great place for Hispanic professionals without much experience. Opportunity to become a Project Manager with little experience.

    Cons

Project Managers have the responsibility for projects success. However, they do not have any authority to obtain the needed resources. They get a pocket knife to do brain surgery. To alleviate their own responsibilities, the partners would make people Project Managers without their consent or compensating them properly. Tends to favor minorities. Their mantra was to be the best Hispanic company in the world.
