I worked at CSC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great peers to work with.

    Cons

Work-life balance, benefits, compensation. Not a people oriented company; run by finance and HR. Changed the termination benefit from one week per year with the company in October to a maximum of eight weeks and then laid off people 60+ the following February.

    Advice to Management

People are your assets; take better care of them. Especially the people that have been with the company and have experience.

I worked at CSC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent salary but get it up front because no raises or bonuses or promotions

    Cons

No care for the employees unless your billable, terrible benefits, forced vacation. If you finish a project you better hope you have another one or you are gone. The only focus is the return for investors and with no new work the only way to show growth was through lay offs

    Advice to Management

Your people are your product and you wouldnt treat your computer as bad

I have been working at CSC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have worked here for 12 years. It used to be a great place, then ok place and now horrible place.

    Cons

No growth, no skill development, no salary reviews, no one cares. No one rows this boat, and they are letting the billable resources keep it afloat.

    Advice to Management

There is no one leading or managing this company. So there is no one to provide advice to. Advice to applicants is to run in the opposite direction.

    Pros

The fellow employees will bend over backwards to get stuff done or refer you to the right people. You can work from home. You have many opportunities to work with different clients and technologies. Changing which account you work is like changing jobs because they have their own tool sets, environments, processes, staff and etc. So you don't get in a rut.

    Cons

Work force reductions are constant so always feed the axe hanging over you. No such thing as a 40 hour week, too much work and many different time zones. Never have the resources you need to get stuff done. The organizational changes and layoffs make finding who is responsible for delivering a service difficult. Not unusual for upper management to make meetings very uncomfortable with terse remarks, yelling and changing the requirements. Every improvement is tied directly to workforce reduction.

I worked at CSC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I was able to move around the company to get experience on several contracts. Good experience.

    Cons

In 2013, CSC had an abysmally low win rate on new and recompete contract awards. That left many of us hanging in the wind and eventually going on unemployment.

    Advice to Management

Concentrate on winning contracts. Keep your best people. Find them jobs when their contract expires.

Company in a restructure program and changing rapidly
Company making the shift from custom solutions to commodity based IT services, causing rapid and multiple reorganizations and changes of strategic direction.
