I worked at CSC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, good benefits, interesting work. Smart people. Contracts run for quite a while,

    Cons

Management picked favorites as opposed to employees that had the required skill set. You really had to standout to be considered for projects for which you were not a favorite.

    Advice to Management

Establish teams on the basis of their skill set. Leave the friendships at the door during business hours.

    Pros

Individual contributors are great people, o are the lower level managers, to the first VP level or so. Good benefits, flex time, in some jobs. HR policies are very good for women, minorities and LGBTQ employees. Strong anti-harassment rules.

    Cons

Upper management treats employees like interchangeable Lego bricks. No value given for individual contributors, regardless of how great their performance reviews are. Poor to non-existent pay raises - not even enough to keep up with inflation. Obsolete computer resources, with no funding to replace them. Long-term, highly rated employees dropped without cause, merely to cut salary expenses, and replaced, maybe, with lower-level people. More likely a department gets a mandated staff cut and is expected to keep doing the same work with fewer people.

    Advice to Management

Start really valuing your employees, and not just paying lip service to that idea. Pay them what they are worth. invest in your own computer and network infrastructure before it collapses from obsolescence.

I worked at CSC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

CSC was a great place to work for may years. Great peers and amazing customers. Despite challenges, we were almost always able to exceed customer demands and provide expert-level enterprise services.

    Cons

No budget for training, no raises for three years, little support from mgt for upward mobility. I would say one day notice for thousands of employees being laid off is ridiculous. Upper management, in some cases, has no idea what people working under them are doing and how they are benefiting the company.

    Advice to Management

Your people are (were) your best asset. The way you have let so many talented people go with no notice is a shame. Also, probably not nice to call people you've laid off to ask for help with a customer project and get offended when they say no!

I have been working at CSC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Health insurance options are good and some of the customers are wonderful. Some of the middle management are the best I have ever worked with. Self-guided learning opportunities. Some positions can work from home.

    Cons

No other benefits. The company is in a perpetual state of "cost challenges" causing the pay to be minimal with no raises, bonuses, or cost of living increases for several years in a row, but as a shareholder they tell you that things are going well. Middle management has no power at all and are often told which people to layoff and what rating to give employees during the annual performance review. Very little opportunity to move up in the company.

I have been working at CSC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Management doesn't micromanage they give tasks and it up to you to get It done some weeks are 10hrs of work others 65, but in end it works out

    Cons

11th worst company to work for need i saymore? The company is in a constant state of change, huge rotation of management, no raises for years, the fat has been trimmed yet they keep pushing, the company has zero advancement.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on how to save money and instead focus on how to make more money. The fat has been trimmed, get new business, reward your employees, stop giving 0 percent raises to employee who you give good reviews to. Stop nicking and dimming the staff ever year you come up with new lows, no raises, forced vacations, 401k with holdings etc etc

I have been working at CSC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    I have a job.
Reasonable pay and work life balance.

    Cons

    Employee morale.
CEO bonus plan is based on stock price, so they have been inflating the stock price for the past 4 years by increasing profit margins, even though revenue is way down. How do they increase profit margins? By outsourcing to India, cutting benefits, and closing offices. I work in the Americas, and half of the middle to upper management have been replaced by Indian names.

    Advice to Management

    Get a heart.
    Get a clue.
