I have been working at CSG International full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

CSGI is a very safe work environment. It's very solid as a company, has a solid industry position, and offers a variety of roles. CSGI is leading edge but not bleeding edge, and you don't walk on eggshells on a daily basis wondering if today is the day the hammer is going to drop. The people are great, and the atmosphere is as casual as the dress code.

    Cons

CSGI is a very safe work environment. It's difficult to be bleeding edge and safe. It's difficult to have all "A players" and have a safe environment. And maintaining a safe environment is to reduce the presence of risk, so sometimes it feels like what's going on at CSGI is not always in sync with what's going on in the rest of the tech world.

    Advice to Management

    Encourage reasonable risk.

    Cons

    Salary seems to be mid-scale.

    Pros

CSG takes care of their employees. Several times a year there are team building and appreciation events that really help morale

    Cons

typical politics. Undergoing an Agile software development transformation and the business and IT groups are not on the same page. Very common, but difficult

    Advice to Management

management needs to stand behind their decisions to make it work

    Pros

The benefits are much better than many other companies in the area, including 16 weeks paid for new mothers, and six weeks for fathers/significant others. I also think management realizes that we need to adapt and have taken extraordinary steps to reinvent the IT landscape by investing time, money and physical resources.

    Cons

I think some of the visions upper management has aren't going to be realized due to lack of training of the folks meant to deliver unfortunately. Since certain executives dedicate 65+ hours a week, the expectation is there for subordinates to work longer hours.

    Advice to Management

Don't just announce once a month that you are open to ideas from your employees. Conduct focus groups for direct feedback and give those people with visions the time and resources to make the company better.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

-Friendly co-workers and great direct managers.
    -Overall pleasant work environment.
    -Management recognizes good performances.
-No decreases in pay; yearly merit increases are a sure thing.
-A lot of perks such as company outings, team lunches, free Friday breakfast.
-Constantly evolving in finding ways to reward employees for their excellence.
-Generous health insurance benefits and paid time off.

    Cons

-Outgrew its close-knit vibe of a small company and is now just another large corporation.
    -Salaries are not competitive.
-Budget is tight, yet company spends money on questionable investments -- mainly buying out failing companies in an effort to expand to an international market.
-On a yearly basis, CEO will declare the company to be thriving in Q2 and Q3, but, without fail, will falter in Q4, resulting in layoffs before the end of the year and attempting to justify smaller raises as a result.
-New CEO recently gutted a lot of middle management to create a leaner operation. As a result, CSG lost a lot of valuable employees.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to focus on better investments. Instead of desperately sinking money into failing companies in an attempt to diversify, start investing more in your employees. They are responsible for your success, and should be compensated accordingly. Keep up with employee recognition programs -- you're on the right track with those!
