    Pros

    The company pays for your studies without any problem. When it comes to education, the sky is the limit with the CSIR. Working nvironement is really chilled and great for open thinkers.

    Cons

    Salary does not compare to industry. Promotion process sucks.

    Advice to Management

    Review promotion process (Career ladder) and other processes within the company. Otherwise, great place to work.

    Restrictive government procurement systems, funding needs to be permanently requested for in grants, very few feedback mechanisms

    Slow admin processes
    Salary not on par with private industry, but that's the trade off for a decent work/life balance

    Don't ever stop valuing the employees - they are highly skilled. Value them and they will serve you well for many years. Careful about the politics of the country revealing its ugly head in the organisation. Keep things world class and professional.

    Nice office park environment and access to equipment and computing resources.
    Friendly co-workers.
    Autonomy to work on research interests.

    Cons

    Not everyone is passionate about research and keen to make a contribution to knowledge.
    Lots of bureaucracy.

    Pros

    Excellent opportunities for studies (spend 20% time working on MSc or PHd if your topic aligns with your work). Support for travel, conferences etc.

    Cons

    Super bureaucratic and risk-averse management. Very inefficient procurement.
