I have been working at CSL Behring (More than 3 years)

    Pros

PTO - but you don't have time to take it all.

    Cons

They will not promote internally! They would rather get "a fresh perspective", than promote from within; this is seen time and time again, throughout all departments. The only people who stay more than a couple of years are people who are content where they are and have no initiative. The retention rate is deplorable because of this and the best employees are constantly leaving because they can't be promoted. My department of about 10 people has seen 100% turnover in the last three years, even though they have created positions in the department, but refused to promote internally to them.

Toxic culture within, very little collaboration between sites and departments; very compartmentalized.

Lower salaries than similar industry, and if you get 2.5% annual merit increase, you're well above the curve.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, and during interview processes for open positions, actually consider current employees over the "grass is greener" approach, and promote this thought-process throughout the organization.

I worked at CSL Behring full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nice new offices, good PTO policy, convenient location. Company has created its own niche and thereby a unique product line.

    Cons

Management is overbearing and generally clueless. Majority of workers and management have an extremely myopic viewpoint and have no clue what goes on outside of this space.

Policies are woefully outdated with no work from home and only occasional casual dress. Company culture is cold and distant with a large amount of in-fighting and backstabbing.

    Advice to Management

A complete re-org is likely needed from top to bottom. Company policies also need to be reevaluated and updated from the 1980s.

I worked at CSL Behring full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The cafeteria and fitness center are nice and the products are life savers for those with rare diseases

    Cons

CSL is a wasteland. Management brought in from Wyeth are running the organization through terror made worse by incompetent HR that looks the other way. CSL has become a revolving door, with newer smart folks running for the exits after just a few months, and the masters of the blame game who've been there forever just marking time until the next bonus.

Worse yet, CSL's clueless commercial leadership have managed to screw up the only two new product launches they've done in years.

If you have brains, are innovative, and want to be a true change agent, avoid this place at all costs. The back stabbing lifers will throw you under the bus first chance they get and you'll be out the door.

The word is now out on the street about CSL and vacancies are open for months.

    Advice to Management

If you care anything about your company, flush the Wyeth flunkies down the proverbial toilet.

    Pros

This is for salary people: Great people to be around. Training is great and everything is streamlined due to pressures from the FDA and the issues they had in the past- made them a great model for training and cGMP compliance. Start with 4 weeks PTO which is pretty amazing.

    Cons

Salary side holds all the responsibility to ensure the work gets done, but the union does the work. I knew people with GEDs making 100k, while people with advanced degrees, great work ethic and a good attitude make 40k. The union protects all, even the people who need to be let go within the union. As salary- these are the positions from micro, production supervisor, quality, validation, etc- you get less pay, worse benefits (except better vacation), and more expected of you. If you get a promotion expect a 8-10% raise, even if you jump a lot. The levels built into the different jobs are better promotions and come automatic. This means negotiate the hell out of your salary upfront or you will be at a low salary for the remaining time there. I do believe over 10% requires senior VP HR approval-good luck!

    Advice to Management

High level management needs to actively engage with the people at the ground level. The front line manager/middle level managers are top notch.

I have been working at CSL Behring full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is no pros to working here besides the fact that it's a job.

    Cons

The management is terrible. There are serious understaffing issues and overworking issues. In the winter your checks may be late. There is a lot of favoritism shown by management.

    Advice to Management

Be more professional. There is a way to handle things and a way not to. Be more courteous of how people work and stop telling them to work so fast or to be more polite especially if you're always in a bad mood.
