I have been working at CSU Fullerton ASC full-time

    Pros

I work with some of the coolest people!

    Cons

The time clock is very disadvantageous for duties that happen in spurts, such as responding to late night emails because of international collaborators.

    Advice to Management

Aside from the clock-in and clock-out system that is currently in place, the employee portal has badly written code and only a small box is shown.

I worked at CSU Fullerton ASC (Less than a year)

    Pros

Higher education setting; a lot of student employment; non-profit. Benefits were good and very reasonable financially.

    Cons

My boss was so worried about perception that it severely impacted their leadership style and the department. Directions, instructions, etc. would change on a daily basis and there was no accountability by management; there were days where an issue, project, or even a simple question would go to three or four different people who would pawn it off on the next person. Working there was very difficult emotionally and caused a lot of stress.

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying about looking good to your boss and the University. Do your job well and you'll automatically look good; it'll also create a much better experience for your employees.

I worked at CSU Fullerton ASC part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Free rental textbooks after working here over a semester (this saved me a ton of money! Simply purchase the ones you want to keep) If you're a business major you'd be dumb not to take this job for this reason alone
    - Working on campus
    - They work around your class schedule
    - Always somebody willing to take your shift if you are unable to make it that day
    - Really easy to get bumped to a customer service position (Just take as many shifts as you can and don't slack off!)
    - Lots of work during the weeks of back to school and finals week, between these weeks is a different story (see cons)

    Cons

    - They hire a TON of cashier employees so they are always fighting for more work (expect to get a flood of emails from employees)
    - Expect to work only 1 day a week for four hours each shift as a cashier during the middle of a semester (if you are looking for more days, try to get into other departments besides cashier: Clothing, Tech, Food, or Customer Service)
    - This is a retail job so expect customers to raise their voice with you. It's mostly them venting about some other employee in a completely different section.
    - They no longer allow employees to bring their homework or read during slow days (Fridays)

    Advice to Management

I have no complaints about the management. Mike Dorman and Mike Clemens are two of the nicest guys.

I worked at CSU Fullerton ASC part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Convenience of location makes scheduling classes and work easy
    No Weekend Requirements
    Free Books after One Semester
    Favorites get benefits

    Cons

    Favoritism is rampant
    Unfair promotion policy
Lack of understanding college student lifestyle (i.e. clubs/organizations)
Poor pay rate in comparison to partner store Baristas

    Advice to Management

Favoritism in the workplace is unacceptable, and helps further divide the baristas into two categories. A employees performance is determined without any concrete metrics for improvement rather a favoritism he-she said policy.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at CSU Fullerton ASC part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Simple and easy tasks for low level positions. Most supervisors are friendly and easygoing. Young and relatable to student employees and flexible with their schedules.

    Cons

Miscommunication is an issue between low level staff and supervisors at times. If following instructions is the way you like to work, then this could be ignored.

    Advice to Management

Remember to give breaks and care for the relationships you make with sales associates.
