I worked at CSU San Bernardino part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

CSUSB has a very accommodating work schedule. They worked around my class schedule and made sure I had enough time to focus on my class work while I was working.

    Cons

A lot of politics were going on during my time working as a math tutor. At some point in my last year, there were a lot of renovations that it caused complications with students coming in and of the learning center. The summer tutoring also had a plethora of complications with scheduling and student satisfaction. The incoming freshmen would get frustrated with the schedule.

I worked at CSU San Bernardino part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very flexible with school schedule, they want you strive academically first in that position.

    Cons

Every office is always understaffed and so getting services may take a whole.

    Advice to Management

    Get it together.

I worked at CSU San Bernardino (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company was very supportive. They never failed to address issues and would always be available when new policies were introduced.

    Cons

I didn't like having to physically turn in my time card. They required me to create an excel spreadsheet to map my hours, but then would require me to print it out and physically turn it in. Why not just let me email it?!

    Cons

Bureaucracy and low pay. Not really room for growth

I worked at CSU San Bernardino part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Probably the best perk at work were unlimited free movies for all employees plus 1 guest ticket
Most of the employees were very friendly and often talked about film and television. The work schedule was open to two different shifts and 7 days of the week. So it's easy for the employees to schedule in their work days and work shifts.

    Cons

I think the biggest challenge is that the company does not provide benefits such as health insurance. The pay rate is a standard minimum wage for California which is $10 per hour. Also there a little to no pay upgrades. Thirdly you are standing for the entire shift. Finally most of the employees age range is 17 to 25.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to switch positions if they would perfer a different work detail.

    Pros

    Works with class schedule
    Yearly raise
Staff are very friendly and regularly mentor student assistants
    many opportunities for promotion
great way to network on campus

    Cons

Certain departments have mandatory dress codes
Students cannot work more than 20 hours per week

    Advice to Management

Lighten up on dress codes, it is the student union, meant to be student friendly, not just an organization.
