I have been working at CSX full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Acceptable rate of pay. Adequate benefits package. Pension program available.

    Cons

Hostile work environment. May be on call 24-7. 2 hours to report to work when called. Hard on one social life, family, friends, etc. Management seems more interested in aggressive discipline than employee development.

    Advice to Management

Create and promote positive relations with employees. Stop looking for an opening to pull someone out of service.

I worked at CSX full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked with some amazingly intelligent people at CSX. There are plenty of people who are absolute experts in their field and are very willing to help you learn. Pay is pretty good. Very, very cool industry. Prior to all the changes I probably would've stayed with the company for longer.

    Cons

New CEO H.H. has been jerking the company around. It is impossible to be heard if there is a "V" or "P" in front of your title. Environment is a cut throat now that everyone fears losing their jobs. It was honestly sad managing customers because service had deteriorated so much by the time I left. CEO publicly states that employees are the reason for why he has no succeeded.

    Advice to Management

H.H we all know you're an expert, but you're ruining this for everyone. You're letting your front line employees take an absolute beating and there has been no pay to a account for that. Work is piling on, quality of the service we provide is deteriorating. I have been gone a couple months now, but what I hear is that there has been no improvement. Judging by the steady decline on your ratings on Glassdoor... no one is listening either. Say what you want about previous leadership in the company, employee morale was significantly higher and so was customer satisfaction. H.H. likes to publicly state that his employees are the reason for why he has not yet succeeded... dangerous game to play when you can't run a railroad with one person.
