I have been working at CSX full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good retirement, decent health insurance. Being outdoors instead of a factory environment. Work with different people everytime.

    Cons

No life, can't make any plans and hope to keep them, very hard on your family and your health. Payroll steal from you and you have to watch your check like a hawk and fight for every nickel.

    Advice to Management

Try to act like you appreciate the guys who get it done a little more. Maybe get payroll to actually pay us what we earn not what they think we earn.

I have been working at CSX full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Acceptable rate of pay. Adequate benefits package. Pension program available.

    Cons

Hostile work environment. May be on call 24-7. 2 hours to report to work when called. Hard on one social life, family, friends, etc. Management seems more interested in aggressive discipline than employee development.

    Advice to Management

Create and promote positive relations with employees. Stop looking for an opening to pull someone out of service.

    Pros

    Good pay,
ok benefits (get worse with each contract that we sign),
     work with decent people

    Cons

    Get treated like a number,
managers that we deal with daily aren't bad, but their uppers are shat heads that could give a crap about the employees that actually perform the work that makes them look good

    Pros

Former loyal practices- to their employees and the opportunity to grow within.

New regime is focused on the bottom line in an unefficient manner at the cost of its employees.

Get rid of CEO and new degrading of employees by current upper lever managers.

    Pros

    fewer everyday under Hunter Harrison

    Cons

longer i work here, the less flexibility and control over my work schedule i have.

    Advice to Management

it's too late for late. This was a good road, with a lot of talent in T&E. When the dust settles you have turned the "ballast level" employee against you and you'll never get us back...

I have been working at CSX full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Pay and Benefits yearly raise

    Cons

Never knowing if you will be furloughed from one week to the next. I have worked on call and rarely seen my family for the last eight years . DONT WASTE YOUR TIME CSX IS NOT THE JOB IT WAS IN THE PAST! Living in limbo of will you stand for a job from week to week able to provide for your family, all the while getting called out on your rest exhausted daily working your butt off. CSX sucks the life out of you and gives nothing in return. Happy Holidays!!

    Advice to Management

Value your employees. Realize they are risking their lives daily missing families living out of a bag waiting for a phone to ring --and for WHAT?
