Solid corporation with good benefits

Extensive and above average benefits package Excellent earnings potential
Cons
It is a 24/7-365 job, no such thing as holidays/holiday pay on the road Be prepared to sacrifice everything you know in your personal/home life as you are now married to the rails. Management is typically made up of fresh recruits from college or other businesses with no rail experience

Manager

Benefits of retirement if able to make it that far in new regime's plan. There are still a lot of good people working for the company but they seem to be disappearing at alarming rates as those in charge don't care about covering anyone's job but their own
Cons
Management cares only about covering their own tails, even at the expense of lower tiered managers. There is no accountability among those managers as they continue to implement various changes that go against any and all collective bargaining agreements. There is no safety program as is evident by the constantly increasing injuries and accidents. They tell you to preach safety, just not on any call or meeting or anything else where employee engagements can be held. Safety is rules compliance yet they have removed or changed so many rules that were safety oriented. And lastly, again, upper management will never hold themselves accountable if they can throw any lower level manager under the train instead.

Pros
Benefits are a plus but slowly dwindling away unless you are at the highest levels.
Cons
The place used to be great but these days they are doing everything to get out of paying their employees or just to get rid of them entirely. Management from the bottom up are extremely unqualified and only placed in the positions because they say yes to anything their boss tells them despite violating laws across the board and environmental procedures. Employees that try to do the right things or follow the law are retaliated against.

Pros
It helped me get my next job. That is really it
Cons
Leadership is a neanderthal approach. You are expected to be unethical to achieve 'the numbers' if that's what it takes. Be prepared to be thrown under the bus early and often. Little known secret: You manager does not have to allow you the benefits promised from HR during orientation. You cannot move within the company without your manager 'releasing' you - regardless of what HR desires. Long hours, low-ball pay and they DO NOT CARE about your family life and will tell you this to your face. Avoid Avoid Avoid.
