great programs to work with
Cons
lousy work hours and work days

Pros
The initial pay is decent; just don't divide your pay by the hours you work. If you do, you'll likely cry and wonder why you ever went to college.
Cons
I don't have the words to adequately describe the pervasiveness of incompetence that plagues this company. It's maddening to work with and incredibly time consuming. Virtually every aspect of working here is a "con". Don't consider employment with CSX unless you're in such dire need of money that you are on the brink of homelessness...and I'd bet that if hired, you'll look back and question whether or not its better to be homeless, or an employee of this company. Yes. It's that bad here.

They Don't Care About You or Anything Else But $$$
Jun 4, 2021 - Sales and MarketingRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
None. Literally there is no reason anyone should want to work at a company.
Cons
Everything. They will fire you for nothing. They pay well below industry standard for positions and force you to work 60+ hours a week. Vacations? Yeah, right. Vacations are more like going somewhere nice to just keep working. Family? Kiss them goodbye because you'll never really see them. When the old CEO left, so did the culture, values, and most importantly the ethics.

I was a Trainmaster for two years.

The benefits were outstanding. If someone had to work their entire career in the operations portion of CSX, the retirement package is good. They will teach you the basics of a job prior to sending you to the field. Continuity is not a popular word in my opinion because with knowledge comes power and too many people feel the need to hold that power in order to maintain validity.
Cons
The hours and days are ridiculous. The turnover for both internal and external managers is a testament to how bad lower management is treated. If CSX could keep managers and actually properly staff a location I think this would resolve the long hours issue.

Cons
long hours and away from home

Pros
Pretty good healthcare benefits Pay was ok when you finally made it to 100% compensation Paid holidays and usually closed up for Thanksgiving Christmas and New Years
Cons
Disliked the us vs. them attitude between union and management. The work hours are difficult to adjust to since everything is based on union seniority and bid process. Some of the buildings and facilities are pretty run down and not in great parts of town ... safety on the job can be an issue.
