I have been working at CTLGroup full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I just had to write something after reading the last few posts. CTLGroup is an awesome company. Not only are the employees extremely bright and welcoming, but management is dedicated and committed to success through employees. I would hate to lose potential great hires because of a few disgruntled employees, but hope the unhappy ones can find a place they can enjoy working (soon). Please stop poisoning the well with your negative words.

    Cons

No one is perfect. Some management are new and finding their way while they receive training. But I've found they are open to constructive feedback. We also have tenured managers who have a proven record of success and employees appreciate working for them. I know I do!

    Advice to Management

Talk with your employees. Someone this unhappy isn't likely staying silent. Being so focused on the negative can make anyone seek anonymous vehicles like this to spew hate. Keep up the good work, keep engaging us with the rewarding and challenging work we crave. Business looks good to me!

I have been working at CTLGroup full-time

    Pros

There are some really kind, respectful, knowledgeable people that work here. They are trapped by their financial commitments to their families.

    Cons

Nothing else. Here is what you can look forward to if you work at CTLGroup:

Verbal abuse, belittlement, management taking credit for your work over and over again. Being underpaid, being forced into submission when asking for what is the industry standard for “fair compensation”. Being denied benefits that you are legally entitled to until they are audited, caught in the act, and forced to give them to you. Witnessing countless OSHA violations, even after they have been pointed out to management.

Racism and sexism that is waved away as “personality quirks” when reported. Spending years training a long series of proteges again and again because they are taken advantage of, get fed up, and quit. Providing flawed, incorrect, or just completely made up scientific data to clients. Working through Holidays for people that went home for vacation. Being forced to work with mentally unstable people when you have already expressed that you feel unsafe with them. Being promised a raise when you accomplish certain tasks or gain certain qualifications, then being denied the raise when you have completed them. Developing such a specialized skill set/field that you cannot find a relevant job anywhere else and are stuck there.

Being used as a scapegoat for management to position themselves. Being fired for being the only knowledgeable person, and thus being “dangerously” able to identify who is completely full of it. Asking everyone you run into if they are having similar problems… or if it’s just you, and having them all confirm that they are all upset. Bring all these issues up through the appropriate channels and in employee surveys and having management announce that the results of the surveys are that “moral is really positive”. Constantly having management lie right to your face.

I have been working at CTLGroup full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Truly world-class talent working on many world-famous projects. The perfect environment to grow into a true expert in forensics and materials science

    Cons

Weak middle management sometimes causes a lack of clear focus on anything other than good science. Company needs to do more to help our clients understand their real needs, and satisfy that, not just what they think they need.

    Advice to Management

We had a great CEO who retired months ago. Find another one like him!

I have been working at CTLGroup part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Smaller company so everyone is familiar with faces; feels like a family
-Staff is very friendly; welcoming environment
-Hiring process was quick; not long and drawn out like how other companies can be
-Upper management (CEO, COO, CFO, HR) are very approachable and good-natured
-Flexible schedules, competitive pay and great employee benefits

    Cons

No Cons. Staff is highly educated and you can learn a lot from them. On your first day, you get a tour of all the campuses and labs, which is nice because you get to meet some of your co-workers and get a better understanding of what each department does.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at CTLGroup full-time

    Pros

Employees are very friendly and easy to get along with

    Cons

Company lacks skilled managers who knows how to lead and grow a company. Managers tend to force employees to take vacations so that their work piles up while they are gone, then scolds them why the work was not completed while they were gone. manager was also overheard telling employee their work is not important then turned around a mocked employee for their belief that work should have been completed while they were gone. I would recommend staying away from this company as they don't treat your work or you as being important unless you become best friends with the "Boss".

    Advice to Management

If you are going to promote from within, send first time managers to school or release them to gain their management experience elsewhere. Long-term employees do not need to be disrespected by first-time managers.

I have been working at CTLGroup full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Extraordinary history and very solid technical staff.

    Cons

Very poor leadership for the last few years. Leaders are not technical experts and lack fundamental understanding of the business and capabilities of the firm.
A widespread lack of incentives to technical staff.

    Advice to Management

Identify and attract leaders that have a level of technical recognition as well as leadership capabilities. Having a MBA is certainly not enough to lead a company with this level of technical expertise. Cut overhead!!!

    Pros

This company has a great culture, and they truly care about their employees. They are stable and recently made expansions. Anyone that is in the concrete industry knows who they are and what they do. The environment is really pleasant, and the people are kind and very considerate with one another. A drama - less culture (SCORE!), the energy is warm and inviting. I strong urge you to apply and see what this company is about, they have great benefits, flex time, encourage growth and sponsor tuition reimbursement, and appreciate their employees. They are considerate and "BIG" enough to offer the benefits and compensation that is competitive with the market, but "SMALL" enough where the upper management knows who is who, and cares about the well being of all. This has been a awesome experience. True longevity with the employees, there are many that have been here 2 decades!

    Cons

None.. other than you will be surrounded by highly intelligent people so get ready to learn. In addition, the Officers of the company are incredibly astute and intelligent, when they give a presentation, you feel lucky to be in company of such smart individuals.

    Advice to Management

Offer more CTL clothes to the office staff.
