I worked at CTX Mortgage full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and rewards for hard work!

    Cons

Management in different departments needed to communicate more thoroughly.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more effectively--however, it has since been closed. I left in mid to late '90's.

I worked at CTX Mortgage (More than a year)

    Pros

The atmosphere was professional and I had great people to worth with in my particular office. The branch manager was nice and kind. (I believe the last year they were open in my area was 2007)

    Cons

The branch where I worked laid me off with same day notice. I was given a few days of severance pay, however, which I appreciated as they did not have to do this. The branch closed and is no longer open in my city. The lady from corporate who came to do the lay-offs was a higher up in the company. I could tell she looked down on those who were not actually mortgage loan officers. Dismissive.

    Advice to Management

It would have been nice to have notice before a lay-off. I could have looked for another job ahead of time instead of coming in and finding out the same day that I was out of a job. Severance is nice but two or three days of severance pay isn't enough to help me between jobs. It was appreciated but notice about the lay off would have been much more helpful.

  3. "Great company that compensated well when goals were met."

I worked at CTX Mortgage full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A great company to work for that compensated well when goals were met and provided an encouraging environment to help meet those goals. Great health and retirement benefits. Team based environment that encouraged outside the box ideas.

    Cons

Some managers were unprofessional and prone to erratic mood/behavior swings. Which also lead to less outside the box ideas and those ideas would be demeaned upon in public meetings. Unprepared for the cyclical nature of the business.

Able to get time off when needed

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Really don't have any advice because CTX Mortgage is no longer around.

    Pros

Big company that felt like tight-knit family, everyone proud to work there.

    Cons

The only downside was that it was owned by a builder who sold to another builder. Housing Market tanked with economy.

    Advice to Management

Start up another CTX Mortgage Co., all ex employees would come back to work there.
