    Pros

Every day is different and exciting.
    Feels like a family.
You can find great mentors there.
People really do care about you and your professional growth.

    Cons

Slow opportunities to move up. Some people are in their 30s and still part-time just waiting for that full-time position to open up. It is a waiting game but If you love radio it is worth it.

    Advice to Management

No advice, being a Promotions Assistant is a tough job no matter what.

    Pros

Talented team. - dedicated to clients and community. Incredible radio stations that get results.

    Cons

Cumulus stopped investing and caring about their people. Systems horrible. Made it impossible to function without chaos. It’s a shame because the stations are so awesome

    Advice to Management

Glad you now have new owners so you have the support you need.

    Pros

Great commission percentages, the money is there if you work hard. Great stations to sell.

    Cons

From start to finish it is all on the AE, even collections on billing. There is sometimes less time to sell because all you're doing is trying to manage what's on air and juggle all the departments in a day.

I have been working at CUMULUS MEDIA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent Commission Percentage. Vast Array of Assets to Make a Profit from Selling. Strong Stations in the Market.

    Cons

No expenses for sales exec’s out of pocket expenses including gas allowance, cellphone, client entertainment reimbursement. This company has the worst local management I have ever seen in my entire career. Lies, lies and more lies. Local managers are so far out of touch with reality, and spend more time coming up with lies to corporate and lies to their staff than they do truly leading, listening and inspiring their team. Too much disfunction to deal with on a daily basis. Favoritism is king, and respect is impossible to earn. With new local management this company could go places. Local management is unappreciative of hard work, instead they prefer to reward those who do nothing all day.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and realize that you are pushing your talented hard working employees out the door, before it’s too late.

    Pros

    Some incentives to add clients

    Cons

Short sighted, Corporate makes hasty decisions

    Advice to Management

Let the people on the front lines add to the decision making process. Corporate does not listen to their employees,

I worked at CUMULUS MEDIA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Communicate with a large range of people

    Cons

No work life balance since new management took over in last year. Long hours, stagnant pay, unappreciated for hard work, management doesn’t understand what everyone does. They are too busy stroking their own egos to notice the talents of their own staff. They have had high turnover in the last year and especially the last 6 months and they don’t seem to really ze why.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and put yourself in your employees shoes, learn what they really do every day instead of assuming you know. Start addressing the issues that are causing employees to fly out the door.

    Pros

I had a great boss. The events that the station participated in were pretty awesome. My supervisor worked around my college schedule, and allowed me to prioritize school work when necessary. The flexibility was great.

    Cons

It was obvious that our station was not a priority. New equipment was slow to trickle down. And the pay wasn't very good (the 401k was great to have). But, I've seen that the particular station I worked for has much newer transportation and equipment. That's great.

    Pros

If you are one of manager's friends, you will succeed. Slack work environment, if you like that, no KPI's, you won't have to make one call. Definitely won't micro manage but will fire you without warning.

    Cons

High Turnover. Managers show favoritism in handing out leads and accounts of previous sales reps. They hang you out to dry if you are new or if you aren't one of their favorites.Even if you work hard it does not matter. They set you up to fail because they are going to give all agency leads, all new leads, and all accounts of prior reps to their favorites without any fair methods. They will fire you without a warning or a second thought. Terrible salary, commission and benefits. Do not pay for laptop, phone, gas,car allowance, or any expenses for the sales reps. This is a dying company in a tired industry. The company went bankrupt(you can Google this) and in serious debt. Just sold one of their radio stations and is in the process of laying off employees. Run, don't walk!

    Advice to Management

Take interest in helping new reps succeed, be more fair in handing out leads and you will have less turnover.
