    Pros

I worked at CUMULUS MEDIA full-time

    Pros

Ability to work with different category verticals, flexibility of being on the road and in the office. Strong coaching, support and development from management, forward creative thinking. Made great friends- loved the team. Open door policy- awesome clients - awesome on air talent- always felt like I was working for pros that cared about my development and our clients results.

    Cons

benefits were bad... parent company seemed volatile- no growth opportunities in what seemed to be an eroding industry

    Advice to Management

more digital integration- better commission structure

I have been working at CUMULUS MEDIA full-time

    Pros

Great free entertainment. Because of the very limited staff quota, you get to become more hands on to things outside of your normal day to day. At times, one may come across some great colleagues as well.

    Cons

Distacting non-stop internal conflict. Because of upper managements blatant distaste of working together to accomplish making the company successful, it stifles the productivity within the office, resulting into angst permeating into everyone on the floor. Upper management roles tend to seek out to have all the glory for theirselves instead of working to make the company/team successful.

    Advice to Management

Having a more clearer and keener perspective on executing visions for branding, station value, promotional/programming inventory would uplift some integrity within the company. Cheapening your product and ruining the product.

    Pros

I made some life-long friends among the more qualified people who worked there.

    Cons

Everything was very inconsistent, disorganized and management was frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Promote the most qualified people, FROM WITHIN, to management positions.

I worked at CUMULUS MEDIA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Heritage Stations, talented people, lots of potential opportunities

    Cons

Managers who are not qualified for the positions they hold. People who are not willing to learn & grow, prefer to spend time blaming each other. Employees can’t trust that what they’ve shared in confidence will remain. No organization or systems in place from corporate to the local mkt. The mid managers don’t know how to solve problems, who to contact for solutions, and aren’t interested in finding solutions. Implementing the same ideas for decades. Lack of communication between departments.

    Advice to Management

Start acting professional- read a book- take a course- learn something new- change your behavior- keep business & personal life separate. Employees don’t want to hear about your family or financial drama on an hourly basis. You’re a distraction to the business day.

    Pros

Every day is different and exciting.
    Feels like a family.
You can find great mentors there.
People really do care about you and your professional growth.

    Cons

Slow opportunities to move up. Some people are in their 30s and still part-time just waiting for that full-time position to open up. It is a waiting game but If you love radio it is worth it.

    Advice to Management

No advice, being a Promotions Assistant is a tough job no matter what.

    Pros

50,000 watt AM station in Chicago. Newsroom co-workers a pleasure

    Cons

Aimless management, bad programming, reallly bad wages

    Advice to Management

Get your act together. Foster an environment where people feel like they belong there rather than just needing a paycheck. Get rid of consultants and program the station through your own professional knowledge. Keep the listener in mind at all times...and not just lip service. Really mean it.
