    Great internship program

    Mar 25, 2015 -

    Pros

They have a well established internship program, rather than just hiring interns and looking for random things for them to do. Competitive pay. Very nice people. They teach you what you need to know, and they give you valuable work instead of fetching coffee or making copies. You are encouraged to network and set up lunch meetings with people from any department you might be interested in to learn more about what they do. There were 80-90 interns the summer that I was there, so there were lots of opportunities to network with them, too. If you are nice and you do a good job, I think there is a good chance they will offer you full time employment after graduation if that's what you want. They give you a manager and a mentor, which is nice. Fair number of events/outings both during and after the work days, so things weren't monotonous. We had several meetings with upper level management, who were very interested in us and in improving the internship program.

    Cons

No cons that I remember -- it was a very good program, and I enjoyed my time there. Would definitely recommend it to a friend.

    Rewarding and challenging

May 10, 2017 - Lending Protection Manager in Los Angeles, CA

    Pros

New challenges everyday keep you on your toes. Immediate team members are amazing to work with and there is a lot of autonomy in managing your territory. The relationships you build along the way internally and externally make the stress worth while.

    Cons

High stress at times managing challenging situations and meeting aggressive goals. Upper management isn't always the easiest to work with and teams/departments can be difficult to work with at times. Goals are not aligned within sales team which can also cause internal conflict/challenges.

    Pros

    - They invest in the growth of their employees. They paid for my studies, exam, and license for life & health, SIE, and series 7 - Good health benefits compared to all but one company I have worked for - Care about work/life balance - Fun, upbeat atmosphere - Upper management is easy to contact - Many career growth opportunities - Pension & 401(k) match - 15 days vacation, 8 sick days right off the bat that can be used before earned - Stimulating work - Company growth

    Cons

    - Working at a credit union but for CUNA, you have to remember you are a guest there - Compensation is lower to start compared to industry

    Great Colleagues, Poor Management

Jul 5, 2022 - Quality Assurance in Chicago, IL

    Pros

The colleagues are great. If you find a team that works with you, then you'll have a great time. There's a lot of great communication and you're given the tools to communicate with your team easily. They use Slack as there main Engineering teams communication. There are fun channels to participate in to break the ice and create relations with others you might not have talked to.

    Cons

Spite there being great people you may work with, there are other glaring problems. This company has a very big Hierarchy feel. People with higher rolls tend to act that way and people don't speak up against them. If you do, you probably will be taken aside from your direct manager and told that you shouldn't do that, later on. They also might talk against you. If you're a contractor (or consultant) this is very apparent and you're not treated like an employee. Management isn't great. It feels like upper management doesn't understand fully how to handle issues engineers may have to deal with. Because of this, they tend to implement changes that tend to not help other teams and roles in the company. The company makes you feel like you're not making any type of accomplishments and that anything you do is not good enough. They keep piling work on you and wants work to be done very quickly. This leads to tech debt from poorly written code and undocumented material. They also want any issues to be fixed along side the work, without giving extra time. This often leads to working off the clock to get assignments done on time and the fear of bringing up overtime. This contributes to burnout. There is a lot of burnout in this company and people feeling like they're being put on the burner. There are a lot of instances where you need to learn a new task but aren't given the time to learn it. You're expected to learn something you don't know on your own time because you were forced in a position you are not familiar with. This is constant in this company and it makes you feel like you don't know anything. They don't treat contractors or consultants like employees. They are treated like tools and commoditized. You're only there to put out work and not question the client. There is a lot of turnover. People get burned out and tend to leave because of it for a less stressful position. There are even lay offs from people who are good workers but aren't showing the 'numbers'. New team structure requires a higher amount of knowledge and skills across all departments and environments.

    Pros

Immediate manager is great. Upper management in my division is great. They strive for us to have a good work/life balance. A lot of autonomy.

    Cons

While lower level positions have been reduced they have added middle managers. Some of this results in work generated to justify their position.
