I have been working at CVR Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    * Career advancement is #1 - many opportunities to learn and grow!
    * Technological enhancements- makes changes regularly to software programs for better accuracy.
    * Makes sure employees have the most up-to-date equipment (copiers/scanners, computer, etc.).
    * Yearly bonus, excellent 401k plan and 13 paid holidays is a plus.

    Cons

The only con (not truly a con) is that the company doesn't offer tuition reimbursement. This would be a nice benefit for those of us who would like to return to school.

    Advice to Management

Create more all staff meetings - these meetings are helpful for sharing information.

I worked at CVR Associates (More than a year)

    Pros

Fairly up to date with technology.

    Cons

There are so many cons, I don't know where to begin. Issues trickle from the top down. Pay is low compared to others in the industry. Expectations are unrealistic and they expect you to work overtime with no pay. Management promotes based on favoritism regardless of work ethic or lack of knowledge. Middle management isn't given the training or staff needed to succeed. Turnover rate is high. Management forced good people because of personal issues. It's like high school. The Human Resources department is a joke. Completely unprofessional. The department of labor needs to come in and evaluate all the unethical practices of this company. Turnover rate is so high and there's a reason for it and it's not that people aren't cut out for the environment.

    Advice to Management

promote based on performance instead of favoritism, increase your salaries to retain talent and get rid of people in management with no leadership skills.

I have been working at CVR Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The new supervisors have been really good. Much better than the last round. They act as a buffer for a lot of the mess we use to deal with. That's the best thing CVR has ever done for the company

    Cons

You will never feel appreciated. They wonder why morale is horrible, it’s because they DO NOT appreciate their employees. As employees, the work is already overwhelming but add in no appreciation from upper-management whatsoever. Management would rather buy lunch and cupcakes then to give bonuses for exceeding scores that make them look good and get them all the bonuses they receive for a job well done on their contract. Employees can’t even enjoy the outings and would rather receive the money spent on it since they are so underappreciated. Upper management will lie on you to get their way. It’s just so horrible! No amount of work that the supervisors put in could help the fact that upper management don't care. The supervisors should go find a place that appreciates their work ethic as well and don't let CVR drag you down. The union suck, HR is inexperienced, untrained and uncaring, upper management only care about the millions they make for reaching SEMAP and everyone is disgruntled. If you need medical you will have to choose between eating and health. The company truly do not care about the employees. And the CEO hate to see her money leaving. She is extremely cheap. She can tell you about all the money she spent to keep the contract but won’t take the time to even learn her employees names.

    Advice to Management

Learn to appreciate your employees. You know how low paid all your employees are so why not add something to their check every once in a while since you won’t increase the pay. While ITS JUST A JOB, for most employed with your company it’s their only source of income and their lifeline. Most of your employees are so underpaid they qualify for your contract! So you should do better for your employees. At least be a place where someone wants to work. You can be under paid and happy but not underpaid, miserable, and bad morale. Take a cue from other places where employees are happier. Do a survey once in a while and see how you can change the attitudes of staff.. Learn their names. Show gratitude for the work that they are accomplishing because you can get new employees but it don't mean you will keep the contract. Do more to keep the employees that are good now and treat them well. At least they will stay and you have a better chance of keeping your contract.

I worked at CVR Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Only if interested in entry level housing, government admin, or public policy. It's a job and it will help you figure out what you really want to do. Not everyone is cut out for that type of work and work environment.

    Cons

High turnover. Favoritism. No flexibility. Low salary, low bonuses, and so-so benefits package.

    Advice to Management

Mentor middle management. Learn to value people who are good at the job. Better HR practices. Communicate better company wide.
