I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Free training to become a pharmacy technician and they also pay for your certification exam (as long as you pass). Lots of benefits. 20% employee discount in most items in the store.

    Cons

Most locations are understaffed, thus you are overworked. Extreme micromanagement. You will get a "report card" every month tracking every transaction and phone call you make. Raises are very limited and you need to fight for them. I was even told at one point that I cannot get anymore raises because I was making $15 an hour.

    Advice to Management

Work on changing the work culture. Its very stressful.

I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You can learn a lot. There is always something you can learn from CVS to take with you somewhere else.

    Cons

The pay and the salary are bad. The work schedule is never consistent. They can cut hours anytime they want.

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate your employees.

    Advice to Management

It would have been nice to experience more employee appreciation due to the fact that we worked had an increased workload, in a very stressful environment.

I have been working at CVS Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is one giant family whether in front store or in pharmacy. Overall a VERY supportive environment to work in. Plus, no cigarettes being sold means non-smokers are happier and smokers are more willing to try quitting.

    Cons

CVS pays terribly. Seriously. I make less than $11 an hour after being here for 3 years (started at $9 an hour in the front store.). The annual raise is a quarter. $0.25. I talked to my pharmacist and she knew lifelong employees who stayed under $11 an hour forever. CVS does NOT like to pay their employees their worth.

    Advice to Management

They need to give much better raises and show better employee appreciation.

I worked at CVS Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is nothing good I can say as all the good managers have left.

    Cons

This place is a mess and they only care about production with quantity over quality. There was never any help from management when things got backed up in the pharmacy.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of learning experiences, Often fantastic coworkers, getting to know your regular patients is awesome

    Cons

Stress. Heavy emphasis on metrics - on surveys, on outreach calls, on "waiters". Understaffed - Consistently have too few techs for the demand.

    Advice to Management

A pharmacy needs people to function. I understand that staffing is part of keeping a business successful. However, the metrics so highly prized at the corporate level can only reach the desired success if there are enough people in the pharmacy to make it happen. Patients will not be satisfied with their experience if there's not enough people to actually provide the care they need. A consistent problem with such tight (actually, understaffed) schedules means that there's no room for emergencies. When the flu season hits in the middle of winter, when driving is more hazardous, bad driving conditions can lead to accidents that make getting to work difficult. Illness can hit some, or all, of the staff. If there's no cushion in staffing, sick people have to come to work, increasing the stress in the pharmacy. The high turnover isn't the problem - it's the symptom of the underlying corporate attitude.

I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are great benefits. I had plenty of PTO even though I only worked with the company for about a year. I loved that I was able to be a pharmacy technician who was able to work at a desk and have my own space. It's so much better than retail. It was a very clean, organized space to work in and there was an awesome cafeteria with chefs on staff.

    Cons

There are a lot of people who work here, including management, with no pharmacy experience so it's hard to be patient with some co-workers.
