    Cons

Frequent re-organization of senior leaders and team direction, weak internal HR and professional development, bureaucratic approach to IT development.

    Advice to Management

Less inward focus on re-organization and more time aligning teams around external threats and opportunities

I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good mission.
President of CVS Pharmacy is progressive.
    Nice people.
    Good professional challenges.

    Cons

President of CVS Health overall is a dinosaur who in no way understands how to manage the company CVS needs to grow into.
Culture: massive gap between what they say and what they do.
Middle managers are yes men to our if touch top leaders.

    Advice to Management

Put Helena Foulkes in charge of the overall organization.
Streamline the layers and shift to a culture that supports growth, not the status quo.
Find a more sophisticated way to manage costs than your annual jack welch-style lay offs. Grow up as a company.

    Pros

Many talented individuals to work with. Large company offers many different types of opportunities. Some groups are stronger than others.

I worked at CVS Health (More than a year)

    Pros

    • Fortune 10 Company right outside of Boston – reverse commute
    • Agile organization once a decision is made
    • Good organization for someone to launch their career – but don’t plan on staying.

    Cons

    • No one wants to own the decision-making process.
    • Excessive use of contractors for work and vendors for decisions.
    • Managers look out for themselves and do not develop their people.
    • You’re disposable if you haven’t been there for 10 years or not aligned with someone higher up – people's skills and applicable experience have no value. Very antiquated management styles.
    • Base salaries below industry average keeping good talent away, health benefits are considerably expensive, but stock options help make up for it.
    • With new market dynamics, outlook feels neutral at best.

    Advice to Management

Would require a serious long-term plan to clean up your reputation of poor people management in the industry.
