I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Here you get to learn everything there is to pharmacy tech job. Stations are being changed every couple hours so that everyone can experience the flow of the prescription. Interacting with patients made my day.

    Cons

The only down side in my opinion was shortage of hours. Day would get very busy and there wouldn't be enough of us to complete things in timely manner.

    Advice to Management

As bobs I would definitely recommend giving more tech hours especially to stores that are very busy.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Cvs is a huge company that's been around for a long time so I feel pretty secure. Full time benefits include paid holidays and vacation. If you get lucky enough to have a great team of people (like I am), it can make everything else tolerable. There is room for growth if you are willing to work hard and are under the right leadership (meaning they will help you and not hinder you).

    Cons

It's retail so you're expected to meet unrealistic goals and do 4 jobs at the same time accurately. They roll out all these new things and don't properly train you how to use them. Whoever writes the programs does an awful job because none of those new initiatives ever work quite right and actually cause chaos in an already stressed environment. There's also no forum for employee feedback to actually improve the issues. If it gets really busy and your script/customer count drastically increases, you may not (depending on your dm) get support until you're very behind. Then you get blamed for customers being unhappy and not meeting goals.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people in the trenches. How can you know a program or update was worth the money if you don't get feedback on how it works in real stores? When you're making your visits, ask more questions about what needs to change and what doesn't work instead of playing the blame game because you don't see the results you want.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Love helping customers save money

    Cons

Best for someone w/o children or husband

    Advice to Management

Be understanding and don't write your employees up for an immediate family emergency.....my husband was taken to the emergency room and I'm the one in charge of his care. And he is looking at having to have brain surgery. I just wish the company was more considerate and more family oriented. Don't get me wrong, I love the atmosphere and being able to brighten my customers day while saving them money in the process.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Insurance is great, stores are open many hours so this is great for people who need flexible schedules, room for advancement

    Cons

Low pay for hard work, although that is getting slightly better, corporate has unreasonable expectations for how much work can get done by a few people and stores are often left short staffed, causing customer service to decline

    Advice to Management

All of the metrics you have will get better if you provide more hours to the stores so they can be staffed well to provide adequate customer service. You lose good people because there isn't support from the corporate level.

Underpaid, mistreated, many days you will feel more like a cog in a wheel churning out scripts vs safeguarding medications

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The acquisition of the Target Pharmacy gave people the ability to get their meds instantly instead of in the mail.

    Cons

Broken technology. Too much telemarketing calls made from the store. We used to help people be healthy and now it’s about saving the company money

    Advice to Management

Focus on patient care not metrics and money.
