I worked at CVS Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

your co workers and sometimes managers are nice and sometimes helpful... discounts are somewhat decent. Not much other than that.

    Cons

Not great if you want to grow in your career.
Old technology and no "budget" for learning new things.
    Everyone one is insanely overworked
Expect calls at all hours of the day because of the offshore teams
Expect to learn how to do things the wrong way.. and the old way.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. Overworking and stunting personal growth is the reason you have such short contractor turn over

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Compensation is at level of comparably sized companies.

    Cons

BA Management is not professional. When there are issues, instead of addressing the problem, they add additional work/worksheet/template to be filled out. Mgmt is sloppy, and unwilling to go to bat for direct reports or even be consistent in maintaining the BA CoE guidelines on a project. Mgmt mandates unrealistic deadline that result in EXTREME amounts of overttime consistently - ex. Until 8pm to 11 pm, or weekend work on a regular basis - it is NOT an exception, and it is across the enterprise. CVS tried to deliver most of their project work in about a six month time frame, so they drive employees to do a year's volume in that six months. The result is that people are overly aggressive, short tempered. My colleagues work hard, but mgmt perpetuates a sense of panic and dissatisfaction. Though there is an internal "atta boy" recognition program, the daily feedback from BA Mgmt is dread, low key threat, critical attitude, not peer respect. Though labled as "perpetual improvement" from Sr. Mgmt there is really just an atmosphere of perpetual fingerpointing, criticizm, and cya - especially from the mgmt level. Very toxic environment.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to reduce head count by restricting the project cycle to 6 months so you can bring in consultants for six months. Recognize that leveling off the work load will improve retention and increase inherent system and process knowledge. Other companies in the health care industry are able to do this. What's the problem?

I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers, who are hard working and dedicated.

    Cons

Upper management is so focused on "the numbers" that they lose site of common sense. I saw it for years on the Retail side, and then experienced it on the PBM side. Across the board they are sacrificing quality for quantity.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro-managing and focusing on metrics only, This place was better before they became a public company

I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Location . Glassdoor requires 5 words for this field. I have nothing more to offer. It's that bad.

    Cons

This is, without a doubt, the worst place I have ever worked. Never in my 20 years in IT have I witnessed a more dysfunctional organization. Senior management here rules by fear and makes demands regardless of the advice given to them by those that actually know how to run things. Things here are done simply because "Steve Gold says so". Each day you're expected to accomplish more than the previous with fewer resources. Morale is absolutely abysmal here. This company is so inept they cannot even process paperwork in a timely manner resulting in everyone who leaves here being over paid, if at all. Expect a collection notice after you leave if you wind up unfortunate enough to take a position with this dumpster fire of a company.

    Advice to Management

The fish rots from the head. Start there.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    $$$ and benefits are competitive

    Cons

Mgt still sees outsourcing software development as the answer, despite huge drop in quality

    Advice to Management

Poor code ends up costing CVS at every phase of SDLC

    Pros

Good training but not good enough.

    Cons

They don't like people with disabilities.

    Advice to Management

Allow people to use their tools to be able to do their job and provide more hands on experience.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

As a part time employee it is easy to change your availability and the tasks are pretty straightforward once you are trained.

    Cons

They will hire you as part time and schedule you the maximum hours as a part time employee right before you hit the mark of a full time employee so they don't give you any benefits. Be prepared to work long hours with no benefits or paid vacation time.

    Advice to Management

This company makes customer service difficult. They make the cashiers ask customers millions of questions and the check out process is slow and long. I would take away the need for a CVS card for sale prices and the long receipts.

I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are no pros to working for CVS in a call center. Management treats you like a dog, all they care about are keeping call times short, not actually solving problems.

    Cons

Everything. It was the worst job I ever had, including when I cleaned a butcher shop when I was in high school. I would rather clean up blood and guts in the cold, and have the skin peel off my hands from the cleaners than to ever go back to work for CVS.

    Advice to Management

HIRE MORE PEOPLE! TREAT THEM LIKE HUMANS!

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Many talented individuals to work with. Large company offers many different types of opportunities. Some groups are stronger than others.

    Cons

Limited non-financial benefits. Main building resembles a reinforced bunker. Not all groups maintain a work life balance and managers can be hit or miss. Location.
