I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is very good. You are held accountable for running a profitable store that provides great customer service.

    Cons

Not enough payroll to have a perfect store. There are too many silly metrics to chase after that have no direct correlation to improved profit or customer service performance.

    Advice to Management

Stop giving us silly metrics to chase. We can find we ways to cheat them, and they don't serve a functional purpose. We need 3 people per shift.

    Pros

Complex and challenging problem-solving opportunities. Collaborative colleagues and cross-functional approach to new product development. Rapid pace of change in healthcare creates learning opportunities.

    Cons

Frequent re-organization of senior leaders and team direction, weak internal HR and professional development, bureaucratic approach to IT development.

    Advice to Management

Less inward focus on re-organization and more time aligning teams around external threats and opportunities

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Depending on where you work the other techs are great & hardworking. Opportunities to float to other CVS Pharmacies to help.

    Cons

Wages are rated lower than average. Never allow overtime. The hiring process is lacking. One out of 5 hired is worth training and the other 4 quit within a few months. Allow trainees to show up late or do no call no shows without repercussions.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring pt techs & give your ft techs the hours they want. I shouldn't have to beg for hours. Acknowledging the hard working techs & showing them how valuable they are would go really far in starting to keep them instead of losing them to the competition. Visit all stores on a regular basis and talk privately with staff about issues and assist in fixing it.

    Pros

    Good mission.
President of CVS Pharmacy is progressive.
    Nice people.
    Good professional challenges.

    Cons

President of CVS Health overall is a dinosaur who in no way understands how to manage the company CVS needs to grow into.
Culture: massive gap between what they say and what they do.
Middle managers are yes men to our if touch top leaders.

    Advice to Management

Put Helena Foulkes in charge of the overall organization.
Streamline the layers and shift to a culture that supports growth, not the status quo.
Find a more sophisticated way to manage costs than your annual jack welch-style lay offs. Grow up as a company.

    Pros

Compensation is at level of comparably sized companies.

    Cons

BA Management is not professional. When there are issues, instead of addressing the problem, they add additional work/worksheet/template to be filled out. Mgmt is sloppy, and unwilling to go to bat for direct reports or even be consistent in maintaining the BA CoE guidelines on a project. Mgmt mandates unrealistic deadline that result in EXTREME amounts of overttime consistently - ex. Until 8pm to 11 pm, or weekend work on a regular basis - it is NOT an exception, and it is across the enterprise. CVS tried to deliver most of their project work in about a six month time frame, so they drive employees to do a year's volume in that six months. The result is that people are overly aggressive, short tempered. My colleagues work hard, but mgmt perpetuates a sense of panic and dissatisfaction. Though there is an internal "atta boy" recognition program, the daily feedback from BA Mgmt is dread, low key threat, critical attitude, not peer respect. Though labled as "perpetual improvement" from Sr. Mgmt there is really just an atmosphere of perpetual fingerpointing, criticizm, and cya - especially from the mgmt level. Very toxic environment.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to reduce head count by restricting the project cycle to 6 months so you can bring in consultants for six months. Recognize that leveling off the work load will improve retention and increase inherent system and process knowledge. Other companies in the health care industry are able to do this. What's the problem?

    Pros

Great management, always adapting and moving forward. You feel valued and appreciated. Easy to get hours

    Cons

Pay is not always great and raises are very small. Can become very stressful depending on where you work and you spend a lot of time standing

    Advice to Management

Increase recognition of individuals and make the job less stressful by offering employees more tools to offer good customer service

I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers, who are hard working and dedicated.

    Cons

Upper management is so focused on "the numbers" that they lose site of common sense. I saw it for years on the Retail side, and then experienced it on the PBM side. Across the board they are sacrificing quality for quantity.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro-managing and focusing on metrics only, This place was better before they became a public company
