I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Experiences can certainly vary by the store manager and often times the manager can make a place great, or awful. In my experience, i had an amazing time with CVS and they always treated me pretty well. My store manager was great and I always got positive feedback and appreciated when I worked hard. In fact, in leaving and working at other places, I've felt way less appreciation in more 'professional' type jobs. I worked at CVS for 10 years and it allowed me flexibility to go to school, volunteer and intern, take time off for anything i needed and the people i met are lifelong friends.

    Cons

As a retail type job, hours can be at any time and working holidays was always a drag. The pay was okay for what I did, but could always use more. Customer service is challenging in the wrong areas for sure.

    Advice to Management

Increase store hours. Great customer service starts with availability of people. In my store before i left, there were many times it was just me and one cashier. When someone went on break, the customer service expected is impossible.

I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits package- affordable Healthcare Plans, $1,000 HSA paid for by CVS. Plenty of opportunities for hours, ability to work at multiple stores with ease and at short notice, great management experience, decent starting salaries. Always something to do, stay busy which makes the shift go by that much quicker! Great company policies that benefit the employee much more than typical companies (employee rights, what a concept!) Great opportunity for advancement for those who want a career in retail management.

    Cons

Shift Managers are expected to do a LOT of work and have a tremendous amount of responsibility that the pay fails to justify. Your store manager can make your life wonderful or miserable depending on how he/she manages. Very few micro managers, but those who do micro-manage can turn a good experience into agony. If you have no interest in managing a store/having a CAREER in retail, it is pretty much a dead-end job.

    Advice to Management

Give your shift supervisors the benefit of the doubt if they are good, hard workers but make a simple mistake once in a blue moon. Most store managers that I worked with were very good managers and very good people. A few, and one in particular, used threats of termination for every little mistake that I made. It really made life miserable- like walking on eggshells each day. Also, don't treat your shifts as cashiers: their job is to supervise and maintain the store, not work as a cashier with override abilities and a store key. Many managers take advantage of shifts by scheduling them along with the store manager in order to leave early/arrive late without worrying about the store not being closed or open, respectively.

I worked at CVS Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very independent working environment. I was often the only manager in the store.

    Cons

High turn overrate for the Store Manager position.. most of the time I was with the company there was no store manager, only an assistant that hadn't started training for the store manager position yet.

I have been working at CVS Health part-time

    Pros

Good hourly pay, flexible hours, oppertunities for permotion, team orientated.

    Cons

Very demanding for the job title (you are waaaay more then just a cashier), never enough people on one shift, couponers can be a pain occationally, training is rushed, Cooperate seems to be rather distant from store level and appears to run things without feedback from their employees .
