I have been working at Cabarrus County Schools full-time

    Pros

    Great hours and days off.

    Cons

Not enough money for the amount of stress. Health insurance takes half my salary, doesn't cover much. Worse insurance I've ever had in my life, worse paycheck too. No growth.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees.Treat them as if you care if they leave.

I have been working at Cabarrus County Schools full-time

    Pros

Great System to work for, they have their act together

    Cons

Pay does not allow teachers to solely teach and live in the area or near by. Teachers have to find multiple job to compensate to get by, which takes away focus from teaching.

    Advice to Management

Do not focus so much on scores, that students suffer

I worked at Cabarrus County Schools full-time

    Pros

It is a teaching position. You deal with kids. I found that the kids were pretty good. There were not huge concerning behavioral issues.

    Cons

Poor administration across the county. Everything seems to be done in a shady manner at Central Office. Terrible practices.

    Advice to Management

Care more about the quality teachers that you have. It gives them more incentive to stay and work for you.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Cabarrus County Schools full-time

    Pros

Many changes have had a positive impact since the fall of 2015. Superintendent is much more understanding of diversity within the district and not looking for cookie cutter schools. A misstep in direction of magnet schools is moving toward correction rapidly. This focus for the district is at the forefront as is growth.

    Cons

A movement to what is called ALPs and AMPs instead of classes just for gifted students has moved this students back a bit. The focus on magnets is seen as a way to meet their needs but in no way different from others.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Cabarrus County Schools full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very little accountability which ironically is also a Con. There really isn't a whole lot to brag about. It is a mediocre system.

    Cons

Closed-Minded and demoralizing. Does not care about their employees thoughts or ideas and prefers to maintain the status quo. Does not want people that can think for themselves. Its a broken system who brags about values but has so very little. No opportunities for advancement. Horrible pay, and horrible benefits. They brag about raises, however, the increase is still way below the national standard and with the increase in pay comes an increase in benefits as well as county offered daycare which lands employees in the red.

    Advice to Management

Open your minds and consider the feedback of your staff. Don't collect it and pretend what they think matters. We recognize that "zero" change has occurred. We are professionals and expect to be treated as such.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Cabarrus County Schools full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent place to work; much better than neighboring counties. Small town feel with a lot of support.

    Cons

There is a 20 word minimum for cons, but I don't really know what to say here. Great place.

    Advice to Management

Seek more input from the teachers about their local school culture because some teachers likely do not feel comfortable talking to management about their feelings.
