    Great team spirit. Great products. Great training

    Cons

    Team leaders were not good "leaders". Too much emphasis on selling credit cards.

    Advice to Management

    Lead by example. Better incentives to sell product

    The ability to learn and move into different positions. Lots of great people and good discounts on most everything sold by Cabela's.

    Pros

    The warehouse manager Jeremy is fair.
    I was paid $10.50/hour to start.

    Cons

    Not many hours available (I worked 16-25 per week)
    Shift starts at 4am

    Pros

    Good salary, a job that comes with an assumed respect that comes with the company, great bonuses when the market hot

    Cons

    Very challenging in 360 degrees, working upwards demands not only results but includes a BIG need for political savviness, it is a sink or swim environment. A very "corporate offices vs. you" feeling.

    Advice to Management

    Leadership development and leadership support should not stop at entry level management. After the merger with Bass Pro, less than 300 nation wide will have your Senior manager title and less than 150 will have a GM title, there salaries are not the only means for promotion

    The values that the company had were very strong.

    Favoritism, no clear lines of communication regarding absences, not enough vacation time, the starting wage was very low.

    Pros

    Work environment was relaxed and overly comfortable. Very flexible with hours and time off when needed.

    Cons

    Slow decent into corp values of employees don't matter and the bottom line does. Position was outsourced and dept was sold. Management varied on good to bad. Annual reviews and pay raises went from non-existent with great pay raises to overly burdensome with pathetic raises over the course of 15 years. Senior level management are doing things that make no sense to keeping a good company, which with the bass pro buy out is starting to make a lot more sense.

    Advice to Management

    No advice. This company will be a part of history in the next 5-10 years as bass pro assimilates, discards and sells off what is left. There will be zero Cabela's legacy left after that.

    People and products were great. Loved working in a sporting goods environment.

    The fact that the job was part time and working nights, holidays, and weekends.

    Discount is good, the culture for the most part is good if you like the outdoors.

    Cons

    Merger. Too many hands in the bowl. Not enough communication.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the people.
