    Pros

    It was fun, fast paced at times, easy to learn, friendly people, great environment. Awesome benefits. Good hours. I loved working here.

    Cons

    From time to time traveling was required. But they set me up in a great hotel and even showed me around the town. Great people to work for.

    Great team environment and collaboration! I enjoyed my time with Cabela's Property Development Department and my fellow co-workers. Sidney was a great place to work...very family oriented and friendly.

    Sidney, NE is a long way away from anything,,,

    Pros

    Great discounts on merchandise and other incentives. New program for commission incentive works out great. Hope they keep it.

    Cons

    Terrible hourly wages and most employees forced to work only part-time discourages truly dedicated and knowledgable people from coming to work for the company. Seems like they just want warm meat on the floor.

    We are in the process of a merger, so naturally things are a bit difficult right now. I look forward to the calm after the storm,

    The lack of communication from upper management about the merger and potential changes. Pay is also an issue.

    I have been working at Cabela's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Management team is very fun, yes gets work done when its time to get down to business. Pay is good for the job that I do. Great discounts on items, especially when they offer "summit pricing" on certain products. The company is very focused on providing good customer service and I really feel like as a company, everyone stands behind the products and service you provide; most employees truly are passionate about hunting, fishing, camping, etc.

    Cons

    We have been consistently short on staff, though we do operate in a college town. As an outside hire, I would like to have been provided more direction and guidance on how to be successful in my role.

    Offer more consistent feedback to people.

    Great benefits.
    Great place to work while they were not having issues with money.

    Cons

    GMs that do not understand the product.

    Advice to Management

    Pick GMs by their passion and love for the industry. Do not pick them by their race/sex.
