    Great people to work with, great place to live and advance your career.

    Cons

    Corporate is kind of out in the middle of nowhere but I like it.

    Advice to Management

    Quit paying lip service to our original core values. We are not walmart and we need to value our retail culture like we used to. Our founder would be ashamed of how we treat our retail employees.

    I have been working at Cabela's part-time

    Pros

    Great environment with overall good natured customers. Management and fellow employees are helpful to each other making it a pretty great place to work. The employee discounts, especially during the holidays are awesome!

    Cons

    For the level of service provided I wish the hourly wage was a little higher.

    Advice to Management

    I don't really have any advice for management. Training was great and the support offered during shifts is more than adequate.

    Pros

    Great atmosphere. Fun place to work. Co-workers are awesome, schedule is perfect.

    Cons

    Really low pay, expensive and low quality benefits, corporate mentality.

    Pros

    Willing to work with your school schedule, flexible hours. Management is supportive and helpful.

    Cons

    Some recent changes make it more difficult to accomplish set tasks due to available hours to work.

    Advice to Management

    Don't be afraid to receive input from lower level managers, their experience can make a more efficient system.

    Pros

    A great caring company, with good employee discounts. Full of great employees who truly care for each other. And great room for promotion throughout the company.

    Cons

    Constantly going through changes due to this, some positions are not safe. They currently require full availability all weekend which is unfortunate because it is retail and for many their second job.

    I worked at Cabela's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Employer offers a fair wage. Full-time employees are staffed appropriate hours. Employees are friendly and positive. Some managers do more than their fair share on helping out other departments.

    Cons

    The company as a whole has been rebranding it's image several times over the past few years. Positions have been consolidated and/or eliminated continuously. Nearly all full-time positions have been downsized to part-time, yet the company continues to open new stores. Medical benefits are way overpriced. Part-time employees get little to no hours and it puts nearly all the work on a few full-time employees. The work load is very unbalanced.

    Advice to Management

    Management needs to establish goals and set deadlines for its employees. Follow-up on tasks to ensure they are being met and completed. If deadlines are not met, find out why.

    I worked at Cabela's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great people and fun environment to work in. Despite it being a typical retail job, the camaraderie of the coworkers made it feel more like you were just hanging out with friends.

    Cons

    Was moving more towards a corporate feel. Rules came down from above changing things in a way that you knew the people making decisions had no idea, nor took any time to see how it would affect the people that had to implement the changes.

    Advice to Management

    Mandating employees be available for both weekend days is difficult when a large portion of the employees already have a M - F job.

    Pros

    Selling Fun. Co-workers and customers generally great to work with. Nice to see new technologies as they are introduced.

    Cons

    Management tends to release employees rather than work with qualified people to retain them.
