    Fun and interesting products, offering a product customers want verse need

    Cons

    Merchants - out of tune and out of touch with the retail sector as well as old school in their thinking. Poor fellow employees to work with.

    Advice to Management

    Fire the merchant buyers for sure.

    Pros

    Co-workers are awesome! Decent discount. Managers know what their talking about for the most part. You get to meet a lot of different people even celebrities.

    Cons

    Customers yell at you because they cannot reach someone in departments over phone.
    As Switchboard I was asked to help out the clothing department with hanging and tagging them it became the "here I don't want to do this, you do it for me while I go play pool or video games"

    Advice to Management

    More people per department.

    Advice to Management

    Think about what motivates employees to learn and grow. Keep employees up to date on the status of the merger with Bass Pro. Make the Cabela's family member proud and live up to their family values. This could be a great place to work--it used to be much better. Some of the stores seem to have happier employees.

    The people that I worked with , The on going education for your job to help you to succeed,

    Cons

    the late schedule ,and that the company shortly after I left had sold it to Bass Pro after telling employee's our jobs would not be effected and they were.

    Be transparent with your employees, Don't tell them one thing when in reality it may not be accurate.

    Employee discount is generous. Store decor is amazing.

    Skeleton crews at every store, employees doing the work of 3, it's retail.

    Get out while you can

    The friendly employees. Family atmosphere among employees not the mangement

    Cons

    Poor management. Corporate only interested in the bottom line. Not a good company to work for. Low wages. Numerous reorganizations that fail and cost employees their jobs.

    Hire a more mature and experienced management team.

    Pros

    The Atmosphere and work-life balance has been a true bonus of working for this company. Company discount is also generous if you have been there long enough.

    Cons

    Red tape and lack of clear concise business direction is a real hinderance while trying to manage the business week to week.

    Stay the course on new company objectives.
