I worked at Cafe Enterprises part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good tips (for restaurants in Rockingham, NC)
    Flexible schedule

    Cons

Unprofessional/rude staff (to fellow employees, at any rate). Manager is very condescending and rude to employees, to a point where it is unprofessional. Many servers (not all) are very rude to each other and to hosts/hostesses, making it a very hostile and drama-filled atmosphere. Overall an unpleasant place to work. Sometimes management takes the motto "The customer is always right" too far, punishing employees who did nothing wrong because of customers who are just rude or want to make trouble. One employee was even fired based on false accusations from ignorant patrons.

    Pros

    Flexible hours
Good money when people are educated on HOW to tip
    Overall good company

    Cons

    It is a serving job

    Advice to Management

Fix the store more. If there is a problem within the store, the manager should be able to fix the problem then and there, and not have to wait a year before a broken ice bin is fixed.

    Pros

    friendly people
there is employee insurance available - it's minimum, but if you need just something, it'll work.
    understanding bosses

    Cons

benefits are lackluster compared to "real" jobs
no real finishing time - you don't work from X to X, you work from X until when-it's-done

    Advice to Management

Find some way to monitor employees who aren't doing their job, and get them out quicker - in at least one instance, it took four months longer than it should have to remove a particular employee

I have been working at Cafe Enterprises part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Willingness to work with schedules. Ex:A lot of servers have young, school age children. Schedules are able to be worked around to let those people off in time to pick up kids at school or have days off when school is out.

    Cons

No accountability. Equipment problems aren't taken care of and are a constant issue.

    Advice to Management

Stick to the disciplinary actions you say you'll take and make EVERYONE follow the rules instead of just a select few.

    Pros

Fatz was a great place to work. I was a hostess and all of the workers were my friends and I felt truly appreciated by the managers. Hostesses received a percentage of the server's tips and these were about $25 on a good night (Friday or Saturday). The managers are all very friendly and treat every customer as a regular like the commercial states.

    Cons

There wasn't really a downside if you are use to dealing with customers. It's like any hostess job, the customer might not always want to sit where you put them and you have to please the customer, which sometimes frustrates the servers because it's taking away from their profit, which is understandable. However, this happens at every restaurant not just Fatz.

    Advice to Management

I actually thought the managers were really good, I worked there while I was in highschool and they always made sure that I didn't get out too late because they knew school was important. I think that's a good thing to focus on, it makes the managers very respectable when you know they respect you, as they did.
