I really enjoy working there and the people are great at this time I don't have anything negative to say.

I have been working at Cafe Zupas part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really good corporate management and really good corporation with school schedules.

    Cons

A lot of people quit and short staff and no one ever covers shifts

    Advice to Management

Watch more of the stores on how they teach

I worked at Cafe Zupas part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good food
    -Great people to work with

    Cons

    - Bad management
    -Bad pay
    -No raises
    - Overworked

    Advice to Management

Working at Cafe Zupas is being overworked and underpaid, they don't give people raises no matter how long you worked there. I worked there for a year and received nothing all they know how to do is write people up for ridiculous reasons and expect so much more for such little pay. Charge a ridiculous fee of $25 for a new check in ripped or lost.

    Pros

    Fun people to work with.

    Cons

Horrible middle management. They expect you to do things in an unreasonable amount of time. It used to be great but it's slowly gotten worse and they seem have to become more greedy.

    Advice to Management

    Hire better corporate managers.

I worked at Cafe Zupas part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get free drinks and sometimes free food. You don't work on Sunday and the hours are okay. As for a discount, you get 50% off, but it's still way overpriced.

    Cons

Lobby is absolutely terrible to work. You get paid the least of all the employees and you work the hardest. You will be practically sprinting to keep up with the dishes. A lot of customers complain to you even though you don't deal with any of the cooking or are management. People spill things all over the place and you are responsible for all of it. You need to make the juices as well, even if you're being overwhelmed. You also will need to be a janitor--sweep, mop, clean the bathrooms.

I started as lobby and was promised to be promoted within 3 months. I worked 5 months and was never promoted. This job might be tolerable if you are working the line, but the management in my location sucked. They would schedule only a week at a time.

Just don't do food service, you'll regret it. If you're in HS, go to like Target or American Eagle or something like that.

    Advice to Management

    Schedule better
Even out the workload of the lobby person
    Give a better discount
    Decrease prices

I worked at Cafe Zupas part-time

    Pros

It was fun working there while I did. Management was epic, and most of the employees were pretty okay.

    Cons

    Pay is absolute rubbish.
    High turn over rate.
Someone always asking you to cover.
My store at least was way too loud.

I worked at Cafe Zupas part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun co-workers. I Loved my co-workers, they really make the place great.

Flexible Schedule (if asked in advance).

50% off meals 30 min. before and 30 min. after your scheduled shift.

    Free fountain drinks during shift.

    Cons

Very low pay, even for those who have worked full time for years.

Pay raises are often very small such as 30 cents.

Very chaotic and stressful work environment.

    Impossible to get shifts covered.

    Very long training period.

Must memorize salads, sandwiches, and soups (including ingredients) prior to begin training.

I've witnessed many coworkers getting chewed out by management over minor accidents.

Line servers have a low pay and sometimes they are moved to different positions.

Unfortunately they have to keep the low pay rather than acquiring the new positions pay rate.

You almost never get breaks. Even if you've been working for five hours and the restaurant is dead. Management prefers that you stay on the line and clean to prepare for a potential rush or close.

I worked at Cafe Zupas part-time

    Pros

    Great people to work with!
     Very flexible hours
    Nice customers

    Cons

Awful management. Don't expect a raise. Ever. It took me 2 months to get through training (which should take 2 weeks). Manager is absentminded and underschedules, making it a nightmare to work on busy nights.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees complaints and shape up!
