    Pros

A great group of people mostly ex-big5 that are whip smart and who make Caiman a fantastic experience.

    Cons

Caiman can do a better job at marketing itself as a highly skilled strategic consultancy. additionally their compensation model doesn’t get nearly enough emphasis. its outstanding!

    Pros

This review is specifically in response to the off-base review left on 12/6/18. To say that the CEO is “doing the least amount of work possible” shows this person must not have been very well aware of the facts of the business. Or perhaps he or she is too grumpy about their departure from Caiman to give a clear-headed review. In 2018 the CEO opened doors for new project work at Google and Atlassian. In 2017 it...

    Cons

Is everything at Caiman perfect? Of course not. Some of the comments I see on this site are indeed valid. Every consulting company could use more clients and more strategic projects for their team. However, as a career consultant, one thing I’ve learned is every single company I’ve ever worked for or with has had some areas ripe for improvement. If that weren’t the case, all of us consultants would be out of a job....

    Pros

Good pay relative to comparable positions at a big 5 consultancy, a good stop-gap before finding a more sustainable working situation and they have a nice annual trip

    Cons

The company puts up a lot of smoke and mirrors to try and seem like a full-service consultancy, but the reality is they are a head-shop - they've got a small operation and their bread and butter is filling contract positions when clients ask for it. This is a fine operating model, but what's problematic is how deceptively they try to appear to be a full-service consultancy. No shortage of messaging about 'loving where...

    Advice to Management

Stop the phony messaging to employees. From the feel good clichés to the illusion that you’ve got a full service consultancy, it’s insulting: people can see through the fluff. Own the fact that you are a head-shop. A higher end head shop than a Volt or a 110 consulting, but a head-shop nonetheless. If you aspire to become a full-service consultancy, that's fine, but be transparent about the state of the company and its...

    Pros

The people: they manage to attract really great people who have created a strong community of passionate, caring people who do all the heavy lifting with minimal leadership support Good intentions: they say they put their people first, but in practice frequently not the case

    Cons

Leadership has not grown with the company and market changes. Zero strategic leadership from the CEO who seems to simply be riding on the profits of the company while doing the least amount of work possible and expecting those below him to drive all of the revenue and growth. The rest of the leadership team is a mixed bag of both ineffective and hard-working / effective leaders who really should be the ones running the...

    Advice to Management

You need fresh leadership and status quo challenging if you want to grow. Stopping blaming those who have left the company for your problems. Doing the same things you've done for years and expecting different results is a recipe for continued declining revenues, personnel departures and low morale.

    Pros

(Most of) the people are cool and friendly.

    Cons

They are a company of specialists- you're hired for a specific skillset and that's all they think you can do. Limited ability to get assigned to projects that aren't an exact match to your skills, which also greatly limits your ability to grow professionally and learn new skills. They are an employer first company- they protect themselves before they protect you. They're still acting like a start-up even though they've...

    Pros

Feels like a small company, but it's growing and there are good clients and projects. Direct access to the partners, mentoring from a partner, you can be involved in as many internal projects as you want. Annual Meeting in Maui. This was an experience of a lifetime.

    Cons

There are still some growing pains, processes need to mature, and career path needs to be clearer.

I have been working at Caiman Consulting Corp full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

This is a very open environment where anyone with a vision and / or great consulting skills can thrive. The leadership team is accessible, open to ideas, and communicates vision and progress. I have seen a lot of positive change and action in the past year indicating that this team is in it for the long haul.

      Cons

It's a small, virtual company and for people who are not self-starters, it can be challenging to stay motivated and / or know what to do. On the other hand, there is a lot of freedom for people who know what they want and can go out and get it done.

      Advice to Management

      More focused business development.

I have been working at Caiman Consulting Corp full-time for more than a year

      Pros

First, let me say, I worked at Caiman for a couple years but was drawn away when offered a job at a large software company. This was a decision I immediately regretted. After a year of misery and boredom I was welcomed back with open arms. I couldn't be more happy with my decision to return. Some of the pro's about Caiman include: - Best corporate culture anywhere, period. (Kind, community oriented, willing to grow...

      Cons

      - Small company, with less resources and structure than larger companies (but way more agile!) - The bonus structure is AMAZING, but it's complexity turns some people away.

      Advice to Management

Management is doing a great job, the company is thriving in a hyper-competitive market where many others are imploding. Continue to communicate your plans and success to employees. The transparency and honesty will pay dividends.
