I worked at Cajun Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, great people to work with. Everyone is always so helpful. This is a company that will be missed for sure. I have built so many wonderful relationships with people here.

    Cons

Not a lot of other locations so transferring is impossible if you move out of state. Protocols for different positions can be a bit harsh.

    Pros

Cajun has done so many things for employees in need. Especially during the flood. Warms my heart how they help the community.

    Cons

Don't really have any cons that come to mind.

I worked at Cajun Industries full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

In general it's a great company. The corporate office and the new owners are making good strides to help the company grow and they really take care of their employees.

    Cons

The Houston office is a completely different company from Baton Rouge. The VP deliberately does things differently almost in spite of the corporate office. If you're willing to submit yourself to the VP you will work out fine, if not you will not last long.

    Advice to Management

Baton Rouge is doing a great job, I would recommend taking a closer look at the Houston operations. Leadership there has reached the limits of their abilities.

    Pros

They used you up , and would not stand behind you on any thing the superintendent did.

    Cons

The management dose not know what is going on and takes credit for all of the work you do.

    Advice to Management

Lesson to the worker's they r the ones doing the work.

Always willing to train for new jobs if you want to learn a different craft or skill, great pay

    Cons

Like most construction companies long hours and hot days during the summer takes a little while to start working usually about 2-3 weeks but once you're in you're in

I have been working at Cajun Industries full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I feel that a few of the best reasons to work for Cajun Industries would be working with a team of guys that treat you like family, help you out in time of need and their safety program is in a class of its own.

    Cons

The benefits and salary need to be more
competive with the rest of the industry

    Advice to Management

Be more open to discussion with craft personal in the pretasking and planning of work task after all we are very well trained crafts men that are the ones getting the job done pretasking with other crewmembers is very important to the job at hand so I feel creating our own map to look at is a key in being able to do it together and be safe and productive

I worked at Cajun Industries (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good Company with potential for grown once you get yourself established.

    Cons

Often ran in to the good old boy situation where older employee were keep around even if they could not perform as well. Fired/Laid off employees to make room on projects for employees that had been with the company longer even though they were filling positions they they admitted they could not fill properly.

    Advice to Management

While loyalty to employees is important you can end up loosing young employees that could potentially be the future for the company.
