I worked at Calforex Foreign Exchange full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible scheduling, fun work sometimes.

    Cons

Toxic work environment. Poor relationships among employees

  2. "Great for students (part-time) but can't see a career growth potential"

I worked at Calforex Foreign Exchange part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - A better environment than retail, not physically tiring for the most part (mostly administration work and customer service)
    - you get to learn about different countries and their currencies, and also about compliance regulations, money laundering, etc
    - great for students who want some income part-time
    - lots of down time at night so homework, assignments etc can be done
    - flexible scheduling (my manager was very accommodating with our schedules)

    Cons

    - not much career advancement as it is a fairly small company
    - There is a cap for pay increases especially for part-timers (once you get your increase after the first year, it doesn't go up)
    - no bonuses

    Advice to Management

Be more accessible for staff at all levels (it was difficult for us tellers to get a hold of someone else when we had issues)
Seems like the business isn't growing and gaining much revenues.. the flat rate keeps increasing which really turns customers away. Maybe freshen up the brand and do some marketing instead of having loyal customers pay more and more fees.

    Pros

You get the chance to meet some interesting clients. If you're a fan of languages you get to interact with people from all over on a daily basis.

    Cons

Management was terrible - very unorganized. Full-time employees get no benefits because they are still considered as part-time, manager will pick favourites and penalize others for no apparent reason.

    Advice to Management

It's time to re-think your approach to your employees. Treat everyone equally and stop trying to be the hero, just learn how to run the business better.

    Pros

Good temporary part time job for students. Lots of lull time to do homework at night and on weekends

    Cons

Everything else. Mom Pop shop pretending to be a company. President has wife and son running branches. No HR dept for issues, just a payroll dept. No retirement plans. Dying industry. Less and less people using currencies to travel. If you must accept a job, get the cash experience then run to a bank..

    Advice to Management

Less nipotism, more professional. 1970's management style is long gone (scare tactics, belittling, intimidation, spying, micromanaging)

I worked at Calforex Foreign Exchange full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Absolutely nothing. Do not work here.

    Cons

Worst management I've ever seen in a company. Senior managers are no where to be seen and middle management has emotional problems. Great place to work if you enjoy passive aggressive attitudes and emotional swings.

    Advice to Management

    Go back to high school

I have been working at Calforex Foreign Exchange full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Supported in career goals, friendly staff, great hours, decent pay, two weeks vacation and banked time, founded in good policy and procedures, management with lots of experience

    Cons

Full-timers don't get overtime pay, time-owed must be self calculated, governing federal policy is flawed therefore making some tasks unfair, some company culture issues

    Advice to Management

Watch your words carefully, consider paying full timers overtime, keep up the great work supporting the staff, keep business business and personal personal.

    Pros

The manager is amazing, the company work ethics are great.

    Cons

The con i would say is that the client that come in will drive you crazy, because they dont know anything about numbers, so you have to spend a little time to explain to them how the rates work.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great job!
