I worked at Calfrac Well Services (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent opportunities for those that are willing to work hard. This company should be well-positioned to take advantage of the inevitable rebound in the Oil & Gas Industry, and there will be several opportunities for advancement, especially in the fracturing service line.

    Cons

There are several districts where opportunities are not made equally available for everyone. These places exhibit a very "click-ish" environment.

    Advice to Management

Remember the culture that made you successful through the years of extreme growth. Continue to live and not just preach the concept of Safety 24/7. Thanks for an amazing 8+ years!

    Cons

Not enough work and loss of san antonio yard resulting in hundreds of jobs lost.

    Pros

Basic pay and basic company benefits were good. Most crew members stuck together and had your back.

    Cons

Management and even direct supervisors lie to your face about your position, they lay off whole crews saying there is no work only to hire others at cheaper pay and benefits. Then those new hires don't get any hours. They take away basic incentives. They are not safety conscious.

    Advice to Management

Do more to keep employees safe. Don't lay people off because of injuries. Man camps need to be liveable.

I worked at Calfrac Well Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Calfrac was a great company to work for you had a lot of independence from your boss and spent the majority of your time in the field with maybe one to two days in the office every two week up until the oil price crashed.

    Cons

The schedule is 15 days on an 6 days off and you travel on your time not the companies which isn't a problem if your happy living in Williston. The next problem is its nearly impossible to transfer out of Williston once you start.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to balance work and time off for your employees

I worked at Calfrac Well Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Money and benefits were great. Met lots of really cool people. Lots of travel.

    Cons

Oilfield is a lot of up and down, great when it's up everyone making money, bad when it's down, (layoffs). Long hours everyday, no such thing as holidays off, not home much. Hard on a family. Working outside no matter what the weather. Sounds worse than it really is. If your used to oilfield work it's just another day at the office.

I have been working at Calfrac Well Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Consistent schedule, know your days off. Shift work so you know when you are getting home. Local work so you spend 95% in your own bed. Cash bonus in per diem 25/day is non taxed extra income. 1 full week off to rest. Still good health benefits-no deductible.

    Cons

15 straight days of over 12 hours working is ridiculous. Can't have a life while you are on your hitch. Weather extremes. Rotating days and nights. Lately, many of our benefits have been cut such as bonus%,pay cuts,401k gone, per diem halved, guaranteed money all gone. Not a good time for oil and gas industry.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you return all you have taken from us grunts when the price of oil goes back up.

    Pros

This is a good transitional job to help you remember how good you had it at your last place of employment.

    Cons

Benefits suck. The company doesn't care for the employees, at the slightest downturn the cut benefits and fire people and use the "good ole boy" system for who is getting payed off or not.

    Advice to Management

    Care for the little man.
