    Pros

    Cons

None that I have to think of

    Pros

    Corporate environment, professional, paid holidays

    Cons

No job security, lay offs not based on performance, management lacks competency

    Advice to Management

Promote people in positions based on job performance, not how long they have been with the company. Hire people who actually have degrees and experience in their job, not people who just think they can do the job, without the training or skill set.

I worked at California Credit Union full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company until merger. Fair salaries, great hours, excellent working conditions.

    Cons

After merger, existing CCU employees, which have far more experience than merging credit union (North Island), were systematically laid off. Experience be damned. It's not what you know but who you know. The surviving manager of the department admitted that he had no previous management experience. That would be the first red light that he may not be the guy for the job.

    Advice to Management

    Retain employees that have experience.

I worked at California Credit Union part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are great. They are really the company's saving grace. They are also the reason I still have some sanity left. Coworkers made it bearable.
Other than that there are literally no pros

    Cons

You are forced to work on your lunch time while the manager stands there doing absolutely nothing and watches the line of slaves (the msr's & ABM) work tirelessly, then has the audacity to say "i'm exhausted!!"
Exhausted?? From what??? Watching your tellers and your ABM take a beating while you stand there arms crossed or on your cell all day??

Management has no backbone so when a member disrespects you, you WILL be scolded for not letting the member treat you like trash. Management WILL NOT HAVE YOUR BACK.

They pay you a measly 12/hr and expect you to bend over and let the members do what they want with you just so their branch wont get a bad customer survey. You are the members punching bag. They come in already upset and you are instructed to take the blows from them with a smile. Beware the consequences if you dont.

Incentives for referrals have been cut in half yet the referral goals have been doubled. Basically they force you to do more work with less pay....sweatshop comes to mind.

Typical customer service job where you are not respected, not fairly compensated for all you have to take, not valued.

Unless you are desperate for a job and dont mind being sold to the member with the LOWEST BID do not work here!!!

    Advice to Management

Grow a pair and stand up for your employees. They dont respect you. You think they do but they really dont. Stop being scared of the members potentially going to complain.

ABM runs the show. Manager is lost when ABM not there. ABM deserves the BM's pay.

A lot of turn over and upper manager didn't seem to care if you don't hit your goal for the month you have to worry about loosing your job and lastly as a part timer you hardly get and paid holidays and no benefits

    Pros

Incentives are decent. Rewards are good and team members can become your family. Love working for a great group of people.

    Cons

Management is a gamble. Not all managers are good. Worked in a few departments and I can say that its all about the way someone handles something. Need more people to know more than one task.

    Advice to Management

    Operations department needs major progress.

I worked at California Credit Union full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

CCU is a growing company with strong ties to local school districts. There are lots of opportunities for growth and plenty to learn for a motivated employee.

    Cons

High emphasis on sales and referrals. Extremely competitive sales environment with a high turnover rate for branch staff. Lowered focus on member service and client relationships.

    Advice to Management

Service is what differentiates credit unions from banks and by focusing mainly on sales, you lose your original mission. The people are what make your company different and reducing them to numbers, diminishes what made CCU special. Rules should apply to every employee equally and favoritism destroys employee morale.
