I worked at California Endowment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wonderful place with great incentives to be happy and healthy.

    Cons

Moving up the latter is not so easy for Administrative staff

    Advice to Management

Allow the Admiistrative Staff to shadow or take on a company mentor for a short period. Let them be exposed to other positions that may allow them to move vertically.

  4. "Health organization does good work, needs to focus"

    StarStarStarStarStar

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

There are a lot of smart and well-meaning folks tirelessly working toward fixing the most complicated problems faced by high-poverty communities. Benefits are great and health-focused, including a 9/80 work week.

    Cons

Stakeholders are so busy with multiple projects that they don't have time to manage or respond to requests. There are too many meetings so it's difficult for any single project to get momentum.

    Advice to Management

Do: prioritize and set realistic goals
Don't: pile on more work and responsibilities that can successfully be managed.

Seek feedback and initiate discussions with all levels of employees, not just Directors.
