I have been working at California Family Fitness part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure about this job at first! At the front desk there is a lot to learn because it is so multifaceted, but once you pick up on everything and learn the basics it really is so much fun! Something I love about this job is the relationships that you build with your coworkers as well as the members. Learning peoples names, their families, and just befriending so many different people really makes this job worth wile! It's also really cool to watch people accomplish their goals and have fun. I really cherish the relationships that I've made with coworkers and members alike. The job is a lot of fun as well! There's always something to do; never a dull moment.

    Cons

Not a job for the thin-skinned or faint of heart. You will get those rude members occasionally who yell or are just angry. Just something that you learn to deal with. It can also get a little busy and hectic during certain hours of the day.

    Pros

Free Gym Membership for you and your Family Members

    Cons

    - The Company only cares about emptying the bank accounts of personal training clients and feeding potential/prospective clientele with false BS just to get their Credit Card info - If you miss your monthly quota goal by several or a few numbers, Expect Consistent Negative Critical feedback from your Fitness Managers during Staff Meetings and Performance Evaluations if you are working at either the Elk Grove or Laguna location. Not a very productive way of retaining training staff, and as a result of this you continually have a very high turnover rate of Training Staff - Fitness Management Team firing Trainers who are highly educated academically and only keeping those Trainers who are primarily Sales Educated who continually nose their way around in the dark with members to make a Sale with their Shady business practices - Very Unrealistic $100,000 Monthly Sales Goal (if you choose to work at the Elk Grove location). Very hard to Sell and gain clientele as a newbie when your competing with 20+ other Trainers who are going after the same clientele base - Personal Training at Cal Fit is primarily 90% a Sales Job with the lower 10% focused on Fitness Education and Training. Cal Fit Corporate only values the monetary gain $$$ of their clients pockets, they do not value whether a client is getting results or not. Quantity is the primary asset with this Company, with Quality being set aside in the storage room - You will not move up the Career Ladder at Cal Fit into the Management Level unless you are a Superior Expert Used Car Salesman. This Company is very 90% Sales Focused with very little regard for providing Quality Fitness Education Training to Members - Very Low Child Labor Pay. Expect to be pushed to spend time off the clock bugging members on the floor to get them to buy personal training. Basically being forced by the Fitness Management Team to work unpaid for free - No Benefits Packages (No Health Insurance and No Dental Insurance) for Part Time Personal Trainers

I have been working at California Family Fitness part-time

    Pros

Free Gym Membership and that's pretty much it

    Cons

To sum it all up, Cal Fit is a money hungry company that only cares about Re-Sign's & generating New Personal Training Business. Cal Fit Trainers care very little these days about their clients fitness goals as their under enormous pressure from Corporate and upper management to Sell Sell and Sell some more very highly overpriced Personal Training Sessions to meet their ridiculously high monthly quota goals which can range from $2,000 to $3,000 monthly or higher. Therefore you have the Training quality that is continually becoming obsolete and superseded by the quantity of selling PT Sessions and Pricey Supplements which you really don't need to begin with! Lastly, If you are considering a Personal Training Career at California Family Fitness as part of your New Years Resolution, I strongly do not recommend it and here's why: 1) Very Low Minimum Wage Pay 2) Very Unstable Job unless your an Expert Car Sales Person and don't mind being Used to make tons of $$$ for the Company and Bonus $$$ for your (FM) Fitness Manger who is the only person that is getting that extra Bonus $$$ money 3) No Medical, Dental, Vision Benefits 4) No Overtime nor Holiday Pay 5) Management Team choosing not to approve your working hours for not Booking enough On Tracks (fitness consultations / Management calls this as not being productive even though Trainers are striving to do their very best) and therefore you lose hourly pay $$ money that is cut away from your paycheck 6) Continuous Harassment from the Fitness Management Team for not selling enough Personal Training Sessions/Packages. Cal Fit Trainers are constantly told to be a Car Sales Person first, then a Personal Trainer Second. This is mainly the reason why you see such a very high turnover rate of Trainers at Cal Fit !! 7) Your job as a (CPT) Certified Personal Trainer at Cal Fit is 90% Spent on Sales and the bottom 10% on Training 8) No Room for Advancement unless your a guru at Sales!
