I have been working at California University of Pennsylvania full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Transparent hiring and employee policies. Strong union. Reasonably small school.

    Cons

The administration. No clear direction for the future.

    Advice to Management

    Vision and direction.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at California University of Pennsylvania part-time

    Pros

You always knew you had hours to work and nobody was going to steal your job. It was impossible to get fired.

    Cons

It's very boring sitting at the desk all day.

I have been working at California University of Pennsylvania full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The staff are fabulous as well as the President. Wages are good, benefits good, work environment good, Campus looks great. I loved my time there.

    Cons

To little too late given the state budgetary cut backs. Over spent updating facilities. Like many other companies/institutions they believe "consultants" hold the answers to what ails them. Often time the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing

    Advice to Management

See the big picture not the one in front of you. Utilize the resources that you have more effectively. Creative financing is only a temporary fix.

I have been working at California University of Pennsylvania part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They provide free training on belaying and general rock climbing safety measures. The environment is laid back. Whenever there are no climbers, we are free to get our own work done or just climb for fun.

    Cons

The wall does not get a lot of traffic. Many of the employees really enjoy climbing, and would like to see the wall have more students interested.

    Pros

I go to school here, so having a work study job that is just a walk away is a plus. The workers are nice and help me learn more about accounting.

    Cons

I'm not really getting a "real world experience" yet, just working at the school i attend.

I worked at California University of Pennsylvania (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible Schedule, management is relaxed

    Cons

Other employees lack motivation, which makes you lose yours as well

    Advice to Management

    Automate more student related systems

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at California University of Pennsylvania part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pros really outweigh the cons. With twenty hour work weeks, and the opportunity to pay off your education with your earnings, working as a graduate assistant is a great job and Cal-U is a great university for work for

    Cons

There are really no cons of working as a graduate assistant. My biggest con, if I had to choose one, would be that you're limited from furthering your contract after graduation

    Advice to Management

Management is lovely to work for, although they could be a little more lenient on the 300 hour GA position, with sick days

I worked at California University of Pennsylvania (More than a year)

    Pros

Great working environment, friendly and helpful faculty staff. 20 hours of work per week helps you a lot to pay your tuition.

    Cons

    Nothing important on negative side.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at California University of Pennsylvania part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As an alumni liaison, I work with the university development and alumni relations department. I assist them in whatever they see fit. This gives me a wide variety of experiences while working with great people.

    Cons

I don't really have a con. I truly enjoy my position within this department. As a student, there is not room for development.
