I worked at Caliper Life Sciences full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

gives excellent benefits to employees. good company and employee environment. monthly employee socialization activity. room to grow and opportunities of promotion.

    Cons

minimal direction from supervisor. minimal feedback during work activity. an independent work environment will succeed in this company.

    Pros

Dynamic company with good technologies. The chip technology is cutting edge. Instrument and assay technologies are fairly good, but the chips are the company's strength.

    Cons

Management definitely has an east coast, old school style. Information flow is largely top down, which is not comfortable for people used to working in Silicon Valley. The acquisition by PerkinElmer only adds to this.

    Advice to Management

Open up the lines of communication more with employees, particularly floor level employees. They are often in the best position to assess how things are going, and can have a lot of feedback to offer.

utilize the talents of the employees and reward them accordingly, they want what is best for the company, however feel they have no voice in the success of the organization
