I have been working at Callaway Golf full-time for less than a year

    Pros

People you work around , perks

    Cons

dated offices, poor middle management, lack of vision, old technologies, LACK OF MONEY FOR ANYTHING NEW - The answer is always, "We don't have the money for that" - even tech support for enterprise software, very FRAGILE and OLD tech environments, peers are AFRAID to say anything in fear of retribution by managers. If there is a tech issue, you are expected to respond even on your days off because there is no back-up...

    Advice to Management

ADVICE? They don't need advice because they either know everything or will refute what you offer. They say they have an "Open Door" policy but don't want to ever be told of issues - they are in DENIAL. Get real or lose what little talent you have left.

I worked at Callaway Golf full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The employees are lovely, solid hard working people, that are sharp and collaborative. Being part of a legacy that Ely built is cause for genuine affection by tenured employees. The discount on some of the finest golf equipment in the world is solid. The cafe' is a great onsite perk. Parking is relatively plentiful (and covered).

    Cons

There is a lack of support from senior level management, Human Resources will always side with management, employee concerns are ultimately swept aside. Mediocrity is acceptable, resulting in poorly qualified people in certain management positions, unfit to manage and/or lead the staff for whom they are responsible. Growth opportunities are rare within the service organizations; what you get hired in as will most likely...

    Advice to Management

"Advice to Management" will fall on deaf ears. The company that Ely built was on par with the best of the best, it is merely a shell of its former self. The best thing that could happen to Callaway would be acquisition by another company even if by hostile means if nothing else to blow out senior management, and the board. All the company really needs is its employees; however tip of the hat to Chip who is doing a respectable...

I have been working at Callaway Golf full-time for less than a year

    Pros

People you work with, compensation, great perks (if you enjoy golf)

    Cons

Limited advancement opportunities, poor middle management, frustrating lack of communication, not a creative environment, poor decisions continue to hurt this company, poor performance quarter after quarter

    Advice to Management

Hire true project managers to manage large scale projects. Stop ridiculous spending when the company is in a 'turn-around' phase. Losing good people in favor of almost comical decisions.
