I worked at Callaway Golf part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun if you love golf and enjoy going to new courses and meeting new people. Had a lot of fun experiences meeting local pros and being around people who loved golf.

    Cons

Pay is decent but travel costs are on your own, somewhat disorganzed. Went to events only to find out that I had been told the wrong dates.

    Advice to Management

Organize your staff and event schedules better, Training was minimal, I was only successful because I was already involved in the game.

I have been working at Callaway Golf full-time

    Pros

    -Great people
    -Free Golf Product
    -Great discount on Golf products
    -Nice Office Environment

    Cons

New Management makes it hard to move up in the company. They keep cutting people and making teams much smaller. You work more and get paid the same. If you want to move up, sucking up is the only way. It is all about being in the right place at the right time. Be sure to negotiate your salary when you first join Callaway. You will climb up a very tall ladder from the 1st salary that was negotiated.

    Advice to Management

Look closely at employees experience. Make good use of employees credentials.

I worked at Callaway Golf full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Co-workers always willing to help. It was a nice working environment. Meeting the golf pros.
    Learning new skills and techniques.

    Cons

    Direction of company
Pressure to continue tackling more and more tasks
New job duties when others are released so never being able to give 100% unless other tasks falter

    Advice to Management

Don't burn out the great people you have working there. New blood is not always best. Care for those that are there.

I worked at Callaway Golf full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

When I started it was very entreprenuerial, I was able to advance from a Sr. Analyst to a Director in 9 years. Lots of freedom to make decisons that were right for the company, and to pursue training and education in the fields that interested me. great benefits, great work life balance.

    Cons

6 CEOs in 9 years led to a lack of cohesion. Each CEO had a new direction, each one brought in a slew of upper management that came from many industries, but no real plan to improve the bottom line. 6th set was enough for me.

    Advice to Management

get a plan, expand and find new markets. Golf is pricing itself out of the average person's life, you must expand into something else. Quit retreating.

I have been working at Callaway Golf full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People you work around , perks

    Cons

dated offices, poor middle management, lack of vision, old technologies, LACK OF MONEY FOR ANYTHING NEW - The answer is always, "We don't have the money for that" - even tech support for enterprise software, very FRAGILE and OLD tech environments, peers are AFRAID to say anything in fear of retribution by managers. If there is a tech issue, you are expected to respond even on your days off because there is no back-up for your position and if you think you are calling tech support FORGET IT because they don't buy maintenance.

    Advice to Management

ADVICE? They don't need advice because they either know everything or will refute what you offer. They say they have an "Open Door" policy but don't want to ever be told of issues - they are in DENIAL. Get real or lose what little talent you have left.
