    Pros

    Pros

Great benefits, sort of nice people, onsite cafe for convenience

    Cons

You have to pay to park, Supervisors don't relay information to you in a serious manner, when it of the utmost importance so you don't actually know what's REALLY the deal.

    Advice to Management

I would highly recommend more professionally developed trainers. It's hard to be fully engaged if your sitting down eating/talking to the back of our heads all day.

I worked at Cambia Health Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice office with views of Portland. Onsite gym is nice along with the cafeteria. Pay is comparable to Portland salaries.

    Cons

Managers at this company lack leadership and training. It seems that Cambia will make anyone a manager without ensuring that person can lead a team. A lot of employees are immature and it appears that once someone is hired, they will not be fired, no matter if their experience and performance is lacking. There is no room for growth unless someone leaves. I would not recommend this company for someone looking to build a career.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time training people to become managers. This will make people stay at the company longer and attract better talent.

    Pros

Good Benefits and Incentive Plans, Opportunities for development (if you find the right niche)

    Cons

Middle management completely out of touch with Upper / Executive leaderships concepts of "failure is acceptable".

    Advice to Management

Failure is the path to success, it is a learning opportunity. Embrace it as such.

I worked at Cambia Health Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is a good company, follows the ethics and mission pretty well.
There are many great teams and business units to work within, and there are some that are not so great - choose wisely.
The 401K and annual "bonus" program has been pretty spectacular the last 4+ years
    The salary is competitive
The environment is pleasant, people are engaged and fun to work with

    Cons

Meeting mandated delivery means the schedules are fixed for many projects, even though they try to operate under Scrum.
There are some "legacy" issues both in people and technology, moving slow and the "we can't do that" attitudes
Management keeps shifting about, don't be surprised when shuffled to a new manager and your goals for the year get lost along the way
They have a terrible time getting the projects defined and aligned during the first part of the calendar year, and most projects and budget start Jan 1 - putting everyone behind.
Obvious the top execs are taking loads of money

    Advice to Management

Work more with employee growth and getting the right people into the right roles
    Get the work defined

    Pros

They provide a competitive salary and good annual bonus if the organization meets its metrics. Working from home is a nice plus.

    Cons

Health benefits could be better. Ever changing management styles. Annual layoffs around Christmas can lead to a stifling environment. Environment seems to be getting toxic.

Integrating new systems is nearly impossible, not sure if it's a business issue or an IT problem, likely a bit of both!

I worked at Cambia Health Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pays very well and is progressing towards latest cloud technology, like AWS.

    Cons

The culture is very challenging to work as an Agile shop. Budgeting and requirements planning are still very waterfall like and so it becomes difficult to operate effectively as an Agile development organization.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff about challenges with delivering against fixed timelines and budget without well defined requirements.

    Pros

*The people you work with, make this job tolerable.
*Most of the time you are left to take calls and help people with their questions. Depending on your supervisor, there isn't a lot of micro management.
*There is a annual incentive that you get almost every year, which comes to about and extra paycheck
*The benefits aren't bad. Medical, dental, vision, rx are standard, nothing too fantastic even though you work for an insurance company, you would think they would be better.
*They contribute to your 401k, by matching up to 6%

    Cons

*If you don't befriend the right people, you will not go any where. There is a clique of people that basically run the show there. If you aren't part of the inner circle, you are not going to advance.
*Room for advancement is limited once you hit a certain point. There are 4 levels of Customer Service Representatives:
       Customer Service Representative I
       Customer Service Representative II
       Customer Service Representative III
       Customer Service Ambassador
It is pretty easy to get to level 3 with in 12-18 months, but after that, getting to the Ambassador level, which has a way higher pay grade than level 3, you better hope that someone gets fired, leaves, or you kiss the right persons butt in order to get that position.

    Pros

There are many people with good intentions to transform healthcare.
Can work at home when convenient.

    Cons

Some senior managers do not tolerate people that state an alternative point-of-view.
Downtown Portland is no longer an attractive location.

    Advice to Management

Decide whether or not to stay in the health insurance business. If yes, invest to get better instead of just sustaining it. If no, get out by harvesting it.
