I have been working at Cambrex full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Growing company, personal learning and growth opportunities, safe environment, continuously working with new products, instruments and methods

    Cons

Management/Supervisor turnover. Planning inadequate for such an aggressive schedule.

    Advice to Management

Look at your most dedicated employees and move them into the positions they desire.

I have been working at Cambrex full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People are nice. Relationship between operators and engineers is excellent. Training was adequate enough to inform you on what to expect. Plant is very clean and the site is constantly growing.

    Cons

Management is rather distant. Hours can be unreasonable at times. Site as a whole seems understaffed. Work can be rather boring and very repetitive at times.

    Advice to Management

With such a booming business, there is a need to hire more staff in all areas to keep up with demand. Especially since most of the issues around the plant are a result of lack of manpower.

I worked at Cambrex full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good and supportive coworkers to work with.

    Cons

The pilot plant management sometimes was unbelievable, the manager herself barely has any management skill whatsoever and is rude and disrespectful at all times. If you do have to come here, do not come to the pilot plant area.

    Advice to Management

Learn to respect people since people should be the most valuable assets.

I worked at Cambrex full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good experience working under pressure with ridiculous methods that are not psg designed for, but you have to do it because "that is the way it is". If you have prior experiences with their methods, then you should not have a problem.

    Cons

Management does very little in terms of training. They get by with minimal effort only what is required by GMP. They do not go above and beyond like what normal pharmaceutical companies would do to make processes efficient and robust; even though the site is more in transition from chemical manufacturing to pharmaceutical .

NEW PEOPLE - Be very careful when dealing with Cambrex. Ask questions relating to the effectiveness of the area your going into and how do things really work on a day to day basis. Read the following reviews. Don't assume anything. If you see a problem, go to management right away.

    Advice to Management

Better communication with your workers. Don't wait for them to tell you everything, rather go to them and get the truth right away. The workers are under pressure to get things finished and would rather leave or expect somebody of higher experience to follow up.

I have been working at Cambrex full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not many to share. Pay is ok but you will have no time to enjoy it because you will work all the time. One plus is the people on the floor are very friendly.

    Cons

The work schedule is terrible they tell you it's three days on two off two on 12 hour shifts. So every other weekend You will work. Usually have three months of days then three months of nights. What they forget to mention is that you have to cover vacation for the opposite shift. And the opposite shift will most likely have all senior employees with 5 weeks of vacation to cover. Our as they like to say production needs overtime. Instead of hiring extra help they run with the fewest amount of people and make everyone work overtime. There is no chance of ever getting a 8 hour job there so you will be at the end of your career still working 12hr shifts and weekends. So if you hate your family this the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Stop looking at home much money you are making at our expense and start looking at how you can make cambrex a better place to work. Yes we are growing at an incredible rate but you will need to find employees for that future growth. If you continue on the current path you will not only have a hard time finding new employees but you will lose the ones you have now.

I worked at Cambrex full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is a lot of overtime to be had and the pay is pretty good. Safety is a priority and the employees seem to have created a close knit group (at least at the Charles City Division)

    Cons

A lot of pressure on the people with work ethic to work long hours. Lots of stress - it is a work hard, fast, environment and get it done three weeks ago attitude. Moving up in the company is Impossible because of managemental backlash for applying to another section.

    Advice to Management

Stop pushing your employees so hard, you hired the good ones for a reason, let them work. Corporate outlook has gotten greedy and the company will crash if they continue on this path. If only for the lack of resources and the over stressing of their employees - slow down. Lower management needs to stop bullying their employees when they want to move to different departments.
