I worked at Cambridge Bancorp full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The products and services sell itself. Outstanding leadership and camaraderie. Very involved in the community. Opportunity to move up if you do everything right everyday. The occasional raffles to events are the best!

    Cons

You have to be patient. Pay is not comparable to other worthy banks in the area.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Cambridge Bancorp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Small, community based bank. Great employees and customers. Locations are handy for those living or working in the metro Boston community.

    Cons

New management team has altered 125 year business model of building business through relationships and have moved more to product cross sell/ aggressive goal setting as primary goal.

    Advice to Management

Do not forget what made you such a strong and respected institution. Support local branches through mixed media promotions to assist in reaching goals.

    Pros

Fair management with very good industry experience, nice community banking atmosphere, in a growth mode, first bank i worked at with literally no tolerance for sexual harrassment.

    Cons

This is a smaller bank, so more may be required of you than in a typical larger bank.
As an employee you can not lend from CTC.
Salary depending on the title may not be comparable to industry pay, however, hours are fair.

"Officers are lucky, the rest, not so much"

    Pros

Benefits are OK, and if you live in Cambridge, a short commute is nice. In general the other employees are pleasant to work with. Good bonuses if you are an officer of the bank.

    Cons

Commitments to long time employees make it difficult to advance. Those that have been around for a long time have no incentive to leave - the proverbial golden handcuffs, if you will. Pay raises are on the small side, and some managers seem to have the attitude that you're "lucky to be working here". Two classes of employees - Officers are the chosen ones and the rest are just worker bees.

    Advice to Management

Be more objective in the way reviews are done. More transparency and better communication are needed.
