    Pros

    Insurance and benefits were good

    Cons

Low salaries by industry standard. Little opportunity for advancement. Cameco basically trains employees for better jobs somewhere else.

    Advice to Management

Management views government regulators with open disdain in company meetings. This is highly inappropriate and has led to complications with permitting and mining.

    Pros

Very competitive pay and benefits. Excellent RSP retirement program where company matches employee contribution. Employee share program is a nice bonus.

    Cons

With a downturn in the uranium market the company is in the midst of a very uncertain future. This is currently forcing a large reduction in staff which many long serving employees, who have contributed to the company's success, are being let go. Very unstable workplace with high stress due to the uncertainty.

    Advice to Management

Too many departments focussing on adding created middle management positions while eliminating support staff is not an effective cost saving effort. The company needs to refocus on their previous position of valuing their employees as their most valued assets.

I worked at Cameco (More than a year)

    Pros

Cameco, has tight-knitted groups with managers that are accessible to reach. Communication amongst groups is strong and the teams for the most part cooperate but was poor within the group that contractor worked in. Organization has flexible work schedules for full time workers. They are fine with appointments and days off being made in short, unexpected notice.

    Cons

Contractors were discriminated: General issues that related to the SOx group were quickly blamed towards the contractor even if it didn't fall under their jurisdiction. Team failed provide communicate with contractor and often left out of group discussions. Team did not make contractor feel as an equally valued member of the team resulting in an uncomfortable work environment.

    Advice to Management

Promotions to new managers, ensure there is a bridging period... Manager failed to maintain duties while during busy season.
