    Pros

People were amazing with high level of professionalism and expertise.

    Cons

Schlumberger way of business is leading to a loss of culture and leadership that made Cameron successful enough to be acquired.

    Pros

I worked with very nice people apart from the supervisors.

    Cons

Floor supervisors do a great job by giving you wrong information so that they can fire you especially when you are a contract worker. It takes 6 months to get hired fully by Cameron, months before that you are there as contract worker. Very simple redundant work.

    Career Opportunities and Pay

Sep 30, 2019 - Material Specialist in Houston, TX
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

There is always an opportunity to learn new information and add to my skill set using online materials. For the most part, the people I have worked with have been great people.

    Cons

Job levels are unknown to employees, and an employee has to ask HR what their job grade is when trying to promote themselves for another job. An employee can go through the interview and LOA process only to find out that the salary and grade level are not adequate for his/her experience. The pay at Cameron/SLB is not at the same level as other Oil & Gas companies. Employees are not paid as well as the competition.

    Great Place to Work

    Pros

Cameron is a great place to work. They really value their engineers and are happy to promote you if you work hard.

    Cons

For me personally Houston is not where I wanted to end up so if that applies to you as well Cameron might not be the right company.

    Was great. New ownership though

    Pros

    Great culture and work/life balance

    Cons

Bought by Schlumberger. Cameron culture does not mix well with Schlumberger culture. Ended up quitting because of it. "If you leave at 5 a Schlumberger manager sees that as leaving early." - My Schlumberger manager after seeing me leave at 5:30.

    Working at Cameron

Jan 10, 2018 - Production Assembler in Bakersfield, CA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great work environment, people, facilities, and equipment. There is always a great attitude with all employees, everyone works as a team, and acts like a family. All of the supervisors and managers are down-to-Earth and they don’t act like they’re better than everyone else. Great management and coworkers, and benefits.

    Cons

The pay is not that great in Bakersfield when you compare it to other Cameron employees that work in the same position, but at a different Cameron. The hours can be very long as with any oilfield job and the schedule can fluctuate by the day. You may work 8hr shifts each day for 2 weeks or 12hrs a day for a whole summer.

    Drilling Systems Engineer

Dec 20, 2017 - Anonymous Employee in Houston, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Engineers have a significant amount of responsibilities, including junior engineers, such as: designing, creating, then testing equipment that will be used by Cameron's drilling customers. Also, order parts from vendors and meet with high-up executives to make sure high profile projects will be completed ASAP.

    Cons

    * Impossible to get promoted, due to the SETC process, 25 different criteria needed to go to senior level * No annual raises for 3 years due to low oil prices (Cameron products are mainly for offshore - very expensive drilling operation), just received one for 2018 * 50% of drilling engineering has been laid off or quit to make up for the loss of offshore revenue

    Pros

Great benefits and I worked with great people at the branch

    Cons

Schlumberger bought Cameron and they have so many policies and procedures its hard to get anything accomplished in a timely manner. They reduced labor that everyone that remained were overloaded without any kind of small compenstation
