I worked at Camp Bow Wow full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Organized, they have many locations so they keep things well managed
Your dog will most likely have a good time at CBW
The layout of the facility is nice

    Cons

    Overall attitude of employees/employers
Their turn over rate is extremely high, constantly moving people in and out of positions along with hiring and firing

    Advice to Management

Be nice and smile more :) jobs are stressful but being a leader in an industry sets the bar for the rest of the employees

I worked at Camp Bow Wow part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved working with animals and being around them; The work was easy if not sometimes a little boring. I felt like they were really good at working a schedule around your needs which was nice.

    Cons

I did not like how the facility was run per-say.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when they tell you that something needs to be fixed!

    Pros

    Get to work with dogs.
Don't have to deal with customer problems.
The scheduling can be made to work around school.

    Cons

Lots of work for little pay.
    Lots of micromanaging involved.
Have to be standing for an 8 hour shift and only get a 10 minute break.
Some dogs can be annoying and and cause a stressful yard.

I have been working at Camp Bow Wow full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get to work with dogs

    Cons

Low pay for a lot of hard work and hectic and stressful work days
    Poor management
    Poor health benefit options
Poor training program for new employees
    Dog fights occur very often

    Advice to Management

Focus on training staff proper dog behaviour and play yard management
Dont move employees up to management roles so quickly while providing them with vague and on the fly training.
Pay your employees more, they all deal with an over bearing amount of work and hectic work environment on a daily basis where no two days are the same and the demands of management, who spend little to no time directly with the dogs, become almost impossible to fullfill.
Bring back breed restrictions. I love all dogs and all dog breeds, however with my experience and knowledge of dog behaviour, certain breeds just simply do not do well in a dog day care environment. You would have less dog fights this way....

I worked at Camp Bow Wow full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pros i cant think of are the dogs...

    Cons

Its so dirty!!! They dont clean the outside yards at all. They only mop the inside area. management is unprofessional and have no idea what they are doing. There are no protocals for cleaning or even for when fights break out. They have 100 rules about what you can and cant do on camera while in the yards. But off camera MANAGERS have been caught smoking weed in the play yards. They over work the employees for barley any money. You work an 8 hour shift and only get 1 15 min break...The way they introduce new dogs is so unsafe! They just throw any dog tht comes in into the yards and hope for the best. Fights break out at least 4 times a week! When fights do break out everyone panics and the manager runs in and just starts kicking dogs. And then when its broken up he cusses and yells at the empoyees. This manager also cusses and yells at the dogs and calls them names. This manager looked me in my face and said "i dont even like dogs i just work here cuz i dont have to do anything"

    Advice to Management

Better cleaning for the outside yards, temperament screening for new dogs, people should get lunch breaks if they work 8 hour shifts not just a 15 min break 2 hours after u get there. Dont hire people who dont like dogs...

i enjoyed playing and bonding with the animals.

    Cons

pay is not enough, management doesnt care about employees

    Advice to Management

I worked at Camp Bow Wow part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Get to work with dogs, relaxed work atmosphere (at times), generally fun work environment

    Cons

Owner cut over a weeks worth of pay because I failed to give a full 2 weeks notice (the hours he cut had already been logged and he edited it in the software), can be stressful when too many dogs are in house and/or dogs get into fights, and customers can become irate for things out of your control

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees and customers better
